Apparently photos have been "leaked" of the body of the former Lille and would-be Cardiff striker Emiliano Sala who died in January when the plane in which he was traveling crashed into the English Channel.

So many things come to mind, not least why a guy with those sort of expectations would be flying in such a shitty airplane to begin with. It's entirely possible he was earning no more than £10k-£15k per week but still enough to get a "proper flight".

But watching Cardiff get jobbed at Fulham today, and watching a retread like Ryan Babel come back in and have such an impact for Fulham, and looking at how shit Brighton have been, it does make me wonder if Sala wouldn't have kept them up. It's all conjecture. Stranger things have happened.

Cardiff don't have State Sponsorship like Man City. Sala was a mega-signing for them, £15m was touted as the price. The guy was being signed from Lille, another non entity in the general scheme of things. He takes this cheapo flight. He dies. Cardiff go down. Warnock probably gets fired now. Cardiff is a regional city, Welsh capital or not, so the attendances probably crash next season and don't return for years.

 

Yeah was tragic all round, hate Cardiff but I do feel for them. You can see how Sala would have suited them as well, he had a weird style of play, looks very awkward and gangly but he got himself about and knew where the goal was.
