The most glesga political scandal ever - head of city council reported to standards commission for....calling a Tim a Billy. Council leader reported to standards commissioner for stirring 'sectarian divide'
Utter fucking madness. Stir shit up on social media, then when it boomerangs, tell everyone there's a vendetta against you. FFS.
as fucked as American politics is I doubt you'd see something like that over here. Red Sox fan seen at Yankee game! oh noooooo
Local news websites like evening times literally have the tripartite division 'news', 'celtic', 'rangers'. Alot of politics, religion and public disorder in all three.
Like the Liverpool Echo, they have Liverpool {The City, City Hall, Fuck Westminster, Who Are You, etc} Liverpool {the Club} Everton {the Club} Associated Warm Up Acts {Tranmere/St Helens etc} Undercard Attractions {Steven French/Pancake/Gerrards cousins/Badboys of Huyton}
A friend of mine for 20+ years, you'd hate her... staunch feminist, liberal, atheist, vegetarian... great girl, lives in North Carolina ... anyway last summer she texts me out of the blue because she sees some of my pithy fitbaw commentary on Facebook and thinks she wants to start watching the sport as she's enjoyed the WC matches... knows nothing about club football, football politics etc... she's surprised to learn... she's Italian and asks about Serie A but is disconcerted that it's hard to access on TV and decides she should watch English football... she wants to know what club I support and I tell her nobody... in England there are only clubs I hate, clubs I don't care about and clubs I think are ok to root for... she finds Celtic and the politics of Irish history mystifying... I immediately rule out support of Man City (owned by islamofascist thugs, artificially propped up), Chelsea (owned by an oil baron, supported traditionally by utter cunts, artificial and plastic), Man U (cliched choice of wankers), Arsenal (because they are called ARSE), etc... She wants a club with a real history but no overtly right wing connotations... I suggest that either of the big clubs in Liverpool would make a fine choice... she peruses the kits and recent form and chooses Liverpool... I immediately inundate her with things she needs to know... Shankly, Paisley, Kenny, Keegan, Rush, Souness, Heysel, Hillsbrough, Fairclough's goal, Istanbul, everything I can think of ... Within a few months, she is spending huge amounts of time on Liverpool forums, she's got several shirts, she's agonizing over every match, knows about a dozen songs Liverpool supporters sing, argues with me about YNWA (she insists Celtic stole it)... she even makes little Liverpool decorations for her home like a Mo Salah salt shaker or whatever... I've unwittingly created a monster ... she recently posted some pics of her creations and was contacted by editors from... THE LIVERPOOL ECHO Postscript: we are going to see a Liverpool/Sevilla friendly July 21 at Fenway
Her husband is like "sure, honey... great" ... he likes the football but doesn't really care who wins
OOtrage. Guys like me here generating quality content since 2002 and I never get asked by anybody for anything. Starting to feel like Ferdie fucking Pacheco here.
Her: "what do I say to somebody that tellls me Lampard was better than Gerrard???" Me: "you're right. And Scholes was better than both of 'em"
All this trouble vs Barcelona stemmed from an enforced defensive change because of injury. Real shit luck.
My cousin's husband is huge Liverpool fan. Don't really know him very well but went over to a family dinner at his place not long ago. Liverpool stuff hanging up in the kitchen, living and dining room. Even has a big poster regarding Ireland on the wall. I never got a close look at it but did a google search and it resembles this. Again, I did not get a close look at it so not sure. I don't even know if he's Irish. Last name certainly isn't. Not sure what to make of it.
Perhaps. Not sure. I talked a little bit of football with him but didn't want to get into politics for obvious reasons. Part of me wanted to pry a bit more but I wasn't sure what to ask.
I don't know enough about that shit to even begin. You should come to Canada and i'll host a barbecue and make sure you're both invited. You can suss him out .
Uncharacteristic poor crossing from Liverpool in this match ... but if they can grab the away goal before it's over I bet they hammer this Barca at Anfield
He's a lot more educated than me university wise so that probably wouldn't even surprise him if you said that . He's not quite as snobby and standoffish as when I first met him years ago since he's had to enter the real world. I think i'll introduce you as my Irish cousin who is a huge Rangers fan and see the look on his face
