Shocking that the judges scored it fairly.

Obviously the powers that be that control the same Sheeple who thought Pacquiao beat Bradley decided to tell the truth tonight about Canelo dominating

    Yeah the cards were decent

Yeah, it wasn't Saad vs Johnson but it was certainly decent

Decent fight. Don't really have a problem with the decision but it's kind of anti-climactic when it involves Canelo.

That extra weight slowed Jacobs. Stupid ass strategy to blow up like that.

He always does. If he was slow, it was because he was not his usual 180.

It's not something I'd really care to see again but watching it live I wasn't bored.

It Really Wasn't Until Round 7 that Jacobs Started Putting Forth a WINNING Effort, Consistently...

In That Sense This was a DISAPPOINTING Main Event...

agREED. When I heard his post fight commentary about it being close and just getting the short end of the stick it seemed like he was resigned to the fact from the beginning. He could have done more but was happy with it simply being close.

Jacobs was content to lose, and Canelo never goes all out cause he knows he cant lose a decision.

Between tonight and Crawford-Khan, boxing has probably managed to turn off a shitload of casuals.

Your whole spiel for your retarded scoring of that fight is that basically everyone was brainwashed by commentary

Tonight you have a fight where the commentators on Sky and DAZN both behaved as if Canelo were fighting an inanimate object and you're the lone guy that apparently agrees

Meh. Casuals have never heard of Jacobs. Even if it turned out to be a Hagler-Hearns i doubt it would have created a bunch of new boxing fans. Casuals buy shit 90% on hype alone.

The commentary (and crowd reaction) was a big part of that fights perception. It focussed alot on each punch landed by Pac etc. It was pretty convincing. I’m glad that (most) boxing judges are way ahead of the typical herd of forum posters in terms of ability to discern meaningful punches.

  22. cdogg187

And the typical herd of people who make their living watching matches, other professional judges including a panel of judges tasked with reviewing the fight, actual boxers current and former, trainers current and former etc, shitloads of people watching with completely different commentators or in person with no commentators at all ... just a big herd ... your reasoning is illogical garbage and a shopworn fallacy frequently uttered by messageboard dorks

But you're in good company, obviously:

I doubt any casual fans bought Crawford Khan

The focus from Saturday should be on what a promising prospect ortiz is

Ortiz is certainly the most promising guy in Oscar's stable. If they wanna get him a belt right now, maybe Hearn is open for sacrificing Mo Hooker - Ortiz would kill Hooker.

He'd kill Ramirez also, but I don't think TR is ready to feed Ramirez to Ortiz.

Ryan Garcia will sell tickets, but he sure as fuck isn't as talented as Ortiz.

I think Virgil Ortiz is a world-class bum beater.

Anybody with a bit of damage accrued, anybody with some flaws or miles on the clock, he will look spectacular.

This dude is 21 years old, and in only his 13th pro fight became the first person to ever destroy Herrera. Even though Herrera is past it, he's still very hard to look good against - Ortiz obliterated him like nothing.

I don't think your post gives him nearly enough credit. What aren't you seeing? The power, the handspeed, the skill, the poise, it's all there.

I never said he wasn't very good, I just said he's going to be definitely one of these world-class bum beaters, if there's any vulnerability or damage, he sniffs it out soon.

Sort of like Zab Judah used to be, Zab could always take trash out faster than people who were better than him.

  29. First time I've seen Ortiz was last night but agreed with all above - very impressive.

Remember when De La Hoya used to hurt a guy and then look like a totally excitable amateur in trying to end the fight, arms & gloves flailing everywhere at 100mph?
Vergil Ortiz is the polar opposite of that.

Oscar had some very good stoppages, David Kamau was one of them. Nothing messy about that one.
