Watch Endgame lose it's top spot in the next 2-3 years to a new Avengers movie. Disney will run this franchise into the ground now that they've seen how huge it is.

• no-one cares about 3D anymore, which was why everyone saw it in the first place
• audiences have low attention-span now - 11 years is too long for even today's low-IQ cinema goers to care about
• Avatar left zero impression from a 'pop culture' perspective - no-one knows or gives a shit about the characters
• James Cameron's time has gone
• Massive conpetition now with Disney

It will break $1b, tops, guarantee it.

Even if Endgame breaks all records and becomes the highest grossing movie ever, it's still nothing more than a popcorn superhero movie targeted at nerds, neckbeards and basement dwelling dipsh*ts.
The movie has made nothing close to the impact that Titanic did across demographics and age groups, young and old, including the female demographic.
Endgame is making big money through a lot of buzz and social media hype. It's not a groundbreaking bit of movie making. It doesn't separate itself from any other superhero movie.

Disney won't be able to repeat those numbers without the original five Avengers, particularly Tony Stark (RDJ) and Captain Liberal (Chris Evans). You think a team lead by Captain Marvel, the Wasp, Valkyrie, Black Panther and maybe Doctor Strange will pull these numbers??

 

I wouldn't worry much. Avatar 2 is going to obliterate Endgame anyway. So this talk is moot. Avatar 2 is going to be using new and revamped special effects including, for the first time ever in movie history, glasses-free 3D technology. Even Mustard's wife is going to be dreaming about blue alien dick once the teaser comes out.

It's a December release which is huge for setting box office records.
And if you didn't know, 54% of all billion dollar+ blockbuster hits were ALL made in the past 4 years (2015 onward). Times have changed now as people are not only spending more money at the theater but social media hype is through the roof as it's essential to creating even more buzz and spreading word of mouth. Social media wasn't a huge thing in 2009 for the first Avatar. The sequel will be lit, especially with the first ever glasses-free 3D technology which James Cameron will be introducing to movie-goers.

 

You are out of your mind. It will not make even half of what Endgame did in 3 days.

 

Most of the social media users (teenagers) don't give a shit about an 'old movie' like Avatar. Heck, many of them have not even watched it, much less will run to a movie theater to watch a long delayed sequel.

The movies took a long time to make. They've already started filming Avatar 4.
Cameron is introducing new technology that's never been done in movies before.

 

And what is that? When 'Avatar' came out Cameron was taking credit for motion-capture (wasn't new, only not used this extensively) and 'innovative 3D' (old technology). What new/old technology he is giving us now?

 

Technology in film-making is far more advanced now than 12 years ago when he filmed the first Avatar. He's introducing 3D without the need for 3D glasses.

 

The thing about Avengers Endgame is that it's not a special movie in any capacity. It's just a joyride for 3 hours. It's not a breakthrough in technology.
