Yeah I think "Talent Dispersal" really sums it up. Today, it's ensured that the talented doesn't get dispersed for too long.

Agreed on Walker, he's shit. Alli doesn't have the same role as Sheringham, he's more of a Thomas Muller-esque kind of player and is actually quite underrated I think. Shearer himself rates Kane highly and in fact I'd say Kane is the best English striker since Shearer's heyday.

Kane is very good. But he's not as good as Shearer. And Alli is crap. He's basically a faster version of Kieran Dyer.

Kane is definitely up there is terms of 'best since Ingerland had good strikers' debate. He's a very good player. But I'm not convinced he's better than Les Ferdinand, let along Alan Shearer.

I'd also reiterate that the circle is definitely turning so far as Ingerland is concerned. There are some good fitba players emerging again, and Southgate has proved loads of people wrong to prove himself a very good international coach.

What Kompany has done is beyond dispute.........but I think Maldini and Moore are the two best CB's of all time.

Kompany is an excellent footballer. And he's won a bucketload of things as a result. Respect to the lad. But he's not as good as Maldini. That doesn't mean he's shite. He's excellent. It's just that he's not as good as Maldini.

Moron talks about the "deference of the fans"............camera cuts to a guy calling Clough a "Hooligan".

I don't know why Clough did it, possibly beer related, but fans have ZERO business on the pitch at any time.

Look, I'v'e done this before but it's worth reiterating.

It's 2005, and Liverpool and AC Milan are in the CL final. Neither were expected to get there, and LFC needed a 'ghost goal' to get past Chelshit, who had spent squillians to win stuff. The Milan team are as follows:

    Dida
    Cafu
    Stam
    Nesta
    Maldini
    Pirlo
    Gattuso
    Seedorf
    Kaka
    Shevchenko
    Crespo

    They lost.

In 2019, the era of 'Super-teams', this side just reached the CL final:

    Lloris
    Trippier
    Rose
    Alderweireld
    Vertonghan
    Son
    Wanyama
    Shitsoko (FFS)
    Alli
    Erikkson
    Moura

Now, make the argument that team B is better than team A.

Ah yes, I see your point, I always do.............but you must admit there are intagibles at work.

Expensive bricks put together with shitty mortar by a drunken brickie will fall down far sooner than cheap bricks knocked up by sound builders.

Again, I am with you, and I will leave it at this cos it's past both our bedtimes.....but.....what you've got there is a list of names, two lists of names, not two teams.

The list of names that features Salah, Firmino etc is better than the list of names that features Wanyama, Son etc.

But..........anything can happen in a final. The names and the teams are different things.

    Anything.

You can't logically conclude that yesterday's minnows were superior to today's because they lost a lower percentage of their talent to big club poaching (though I struggle to see how one even considers an EPL side a minnow when the worst ones rake in more money for one season than 90% of European clubs) while simultaneously concluding that the clubs benefiting from said poaching are no stronger than the strong clubs of yesteryear. It makes no sense.

Boxing is the only sport I've seen where the past looks superior to the present. Watching 80s football I see individuals who would still be quality now but on the whole the difference in pace is ludicrous... I can't see how any good club from 1987 could consistently compete head to head with a good club today just as I can't see how 1967 Celtic accomplishes a whole hell of a lot against 1987 Liverpool... I'm strictly talking eye test here, the same eyes that tell me boxing was markedly better, hockey markedly inferior, NFL markedly inferior etc... individual standouts that you could see starring today but generally poorer standard

I'm sure John Barnes would be a star player today as he was then but most of these guys aren't John Barnes

I think Villa can do something here with around 30 minutes left. Can't see them being beat at home just yet.

0-1 West Brom as we speak. Dwight Gayle.......who probably deserves a trip back to the prem.

Gayle is too good for the Championship but not quite good enough for the PL. Rafa gave him nearly a full seasons last time out and he misses too many for that level. He was the same at Palace before he came here. It why he got loaned to WBA but almost certainly won't be coming back.
