Harold Lederman Passes Away From Cancer, 79-Years-old

As Soon as HBO Got Out of the Boxing Business, 1 of REED's Chief Concerns was Harold Lederman...Harold Hadn't Looked to Be in Good Health for MANY Years and You Could Just Tell it was HBO Boxing That was Keeping Him Afloat...

And Just Like the Old Married Person Who Perishes Not Looooooooooong After Their Spouse Passes, Harold Lederman Dies...

    RIP Harold Lederman...

    Well that's a pity, RIP.

When I first came to boxing in the sense that I had money and access to the magazines and the video tapes, guys like Lederman and the entire HBO package constituted the Holy Grail.....they had the fights, they covered the action, them and Showtime.

That said, he was full of shit and hadn't made a meaningful utterance in years. He was also biased as fuck.

I wasn't exactly a fan of his, but he loved the sport and it must have been on HBO when they visited him at his house and his wife had to put up with him having boxing memorabilia all the fuck over. Loved that, haha.

RIP....wasn’t a fan, his scoring n commentary got worse n worse as he aged.

But him, Lampley, Merchant, big George, will always be boxing to me...

I can still hear Lampleys voice....”Tale of the tape for ,,,,”

His scores weren't THAT bad. Not overall.

Did he have some head scratchers? Fuck yes.

But most of the time he was pretty accurate.

Not only did he seem like a good, friendly guy, Harold legitimately LOVED boxing probably more than anybody. He was a junkie for the sport.

I heard Larry Merchant has reacted too, just nobody noticed as it's yet to manifest itself in an outward physical expression.

We expect to have Larry's reaction with us in the coming days.

    JIM!

Dude licked his hand and put it over Merchant's hair. What a twat!

Sad news, actually. I rarely agreed with his cards but his enthusiasm was great and he was part of the scenery....feels like part of an era dying

Yeah now it's shouting and harrumphing about fuck all by some clown in an affliction t-shirt or a cheap monkey suit.

Clowns running the asylum now for sure in sports.

I must be in the minority, cause I feel like 80% of the time Harold had the right score. You guys are talking like he was WRONG 80% of the time, which I dont feel is accurate.

He was the best among the "unofficial officials" that's for damn sure. Some of these clowns have absolutely ABSURD scorecards.

Yeah. I tended to agree with his scorecards too. There were a smattering of fights when I was like, wtf? Or rounds here and there where it was clear he was just hedging or not paying attention. But yeah. For the most part, I always felt like we were on the same page.

I don't remember his exact score, but I do know that Harold had Pacquiao clearly beating Bradley, which is more than can be said for Mr. "116-112 Bradley" Brian Kenny.

I do remember that Harold scored DLH-Tito a draw, which might have rubbed the Oscar groupies wrong, but I thought that was a fair score. Oscar, dumbass that he is, blew that fight.

He did mind. But he was on camera so had to stay professional.

Maybe it's possible that scoring a fight from ringside is different than scoring a fight from a television?

It is, very much so actually. It doesn't explain everything but it is definitely a factor with 'bogus' decisions

The opposite of someone like Kenny or Thomas Hauser based on whoever moves around more

    Kenny probably would've had Chavez/Camacho 114-114

Did Kenny really think Bradley beat Pacquiao?
