Dunno. Reads back as informally conversational (written as it was, quickly, in the pub while a friend pissed) but perfectly cogent. Maybe all that legalese fried your noggin!

Nah it was the leap between what you had read and the intro of your brothers conflagration with the author that threw me.

Perhaps you are right.........the mere mention of 3rd parties has me jumping.

I was probably already trying to "get you out of something" as I read it............."Oh here comes the brother, maybe he is liable, and not Hut".

Watford being fucked here, by themselves and others.

Should have scored their chance, should have had a penalty, should have played City offside for City's first and just what Gomes, who should not have started, was doing for City's second......who knows.

    He's been grasping all afternoon.

As for the penalty incident, it is a penalty.......why do commentators rely on the strict language that he is "Trying to get his body out of the way", when the defenders arms, which constitute a large part of his body, and which are central to incidents of handball, are twisted into the direction of the ball, and do the block the ball.

Should have scored, should have been a penalty, have defended badly. FA Cups have been decided on less.

Farcical. Beyond a joke. FA Cup reduced to this.

Watford are not a bad side, but they've totally imploded and just not been there.

I watched the FA Cup buildup and if 5% of England is not white then the BBC is on a fucking mission to have you think otherwise.

Needless to say nobody in Parliament or the Press will have the guts to address this. Instead it will be plaudits all around for the usual suspects. No mention of "fit and proper" , no mention of the game being butchered.

That's what happened out there today. A butchery.

A competent team reduced to shit by the weight of an occasion which was beyond them due regard being had to the untrammeled resources of a foreign State.

It won't get a mention in the papers of course. There won't be any discourse of a serious nature.

Just the usual platitudes and media-men who believe that their obligation to the game is discharged by words like "such a good bunch of players" and "wot a good team innit".

Let's take a simple starting point, see if we can, in a friendly adversarial fashion, build a case against it:

"The FA Cup has been mortally wounded today. The vagaries of Premier League football already mean that teams are disinclined to take the competition seriously. After today's shambles, they will now abandon the affair entirely, much to the detriment of the competition in particular and football in general "

    Discuss.

You should get a job doing all the contracts for Citeh. Deliberately design them in such a way that the club gets completely fucked and can't do anything about it.

Legally, the only genuine assault that could be mounted is that the owners are not fit and proper.

Even if it was a competitive affair I don't think attitudes would change much. Interest in it has been waning for years. There's simply too many competitions. League, League Cup, FA Cup, Champions League, Europa, Super Cup, League Cup winners Cup, Lazer Blaster 5000 cup ...

Some of the super rich oligarchs probably don't even read what they're signing. It's not like they got where they were due to shrewd business minds.

    1. It has never been won by a PL/1st Division team since decades.

    2. It's been won ONCE by a non "Top 4" side in 20 years+ {Wigan, vs City, aptly enough.............}

    3. This time, for the first time ever, there has been a total rape in the final.

If you are managing a squad, on a strict budget, in January, and the FA Cup draw comes around........would you really risk the larger picture of PL survival on a FA Cup "Run" which involves you being humiliated and then patronise about "Wot a good season you had innit".

    No, you would not.

What annoys me is that the requirement of "Fit and Proper" is interpreted, unjustifiably, in such a very very narrow way.

If the FA Cup got you into the champions league, it'd instantly be a massive thing again

The Europa league is only cared about by people who support clubs that are likely to end up in it no matter how well they perform domestically because they're too financially overmatched to compete in the Champions League or clubs in elite leagues that financially are unlikely to do any better than 5th, 6th, 7th place... people like me, hut, Billy, Caligula ... the FA Cup used to get you into the CWC which was only slightly less prestigious than the European Cup... now it gets you the opportunity to compete for a trophy that's basically awarded to "Best European Team From A Shitty League/Financial Powerhouse That Flunked Out Of CL/Club that finished 6th in a Good League" ...

What makes this worse is that the FA Cup means almost nothing to Shitty but they are so rich that they can literally put out probably 3 radically different starting 11s that would pummel Watford with just a little effort

The super league is coming... the greedy always destroy everything... Shitty, PSG, Chelsea, Real, Bayern etc breaking away to form their own thing ... it's going to happen

From what I read recently Bayern and at least one other club were opposed to the "super league" thing.

I'd like to think of this as some sort of a high water mark but it is not.

It's ironically being lauded as great stuff.

"We are truly lucky to be living in an era where one team has the sort of money that can bring so many good players together to the collective detriment of everyone else"- Media Man.

The only thing that will help solve this ridiculous shit is an overhaul of the transfer policy and a limit on the amount of players a club can have under contract.

    Could win? They SHOULD

what's the accomplishment exactly? They are the only club owned by a country ... the country that owns them is a completely corrupt totalitarian state which doesn't have to answer to its inhabitants... they are rich with oil money and can spend limitless amounts in football terms ... anything less than winning every competition they participate in is a failure

I agree. But the talking heads, the pundits, the politicians, the equality Tsars etc don't care

So far as they are concerned it is the Golden Goose that keeps on giving.

They get to talk their way out of their obligations like Rommell did with Hitler.........."Hey I am just a soldier mate my job is to fight".

    It's the same here.

"I am just a pundit, it's not my job to ask where the money comes from, I just comment on the football man"

By the way the guy doing the commentary today for the BBC did something he shouldn't have done and which I have never seen done before either............he alluded expressly to the make and model of the referrees whistle, upon kick off, which I am sure constitutes an advertisement in breach of the broadcasting standards.

Sounds like a small thing but it was done deliberately and if it was done deliberately it was done for a reason, and that shouldn't slide.
