Endgame is also getting its numbers from repeated viewings. Many are seeing it 2-3 or 4 times. Most of them are comic nerds trying to push Endgame past Avatar.

Unlike you I don't make any claims until the final weekly numbers come up. Avengers Endgame surpassed Avatar's domestic numbers this weekend (take THAT Hanzy!) and is only $174 million away from beating it worldwide. The Marvel film has been out only 24 fucking days (or 3.4 weeks) while it took Avatar 238 days or 34 weeks, including a re-release with added scenes to reach its final record number. Just be patient Hanz, it will get there and like Thanos said "In time you will know what it’s like to lose. To feel so desperately that you’re right, yet to fail nonetheless. Dread it. Run from it. Destiny still arrives. "

 

Endgame won't beat Star Wars in the domestic numbers. That record won't be broken. Endgame still has work ahead to get the worldwide numbers. Until then, Avatar is still the biggest movie worldwide.

What is an $8 million difference? Marvel blew its chance by expanding its release while it was still at theaters with the only hook of a couple of deleted scenes added, BUT made the mistake of simultaneously announcing it will be released on Blu-Ray next month which prompted fans to just save their money to buy the blu-ray. Dumb move. Yet, it still can make over $10 worldwide if they hold the damn blu-ray release. If not it will go down in record books as 'almost by a hair' second place. If I was Marvel's head of marketing I would have announced 'No blu-ray/dvd release in the near future' and re-release the film 'for one week only' 'your last chance to see again Endgame!' next summer 2020. I guarantee that it would have made AT LEAST $50 million domestically and like $75 internationally. Enough to shatter 'Avatar' or any future film from claiming this record. Then a MONTH AFTER THAT I would announce, "by the way the blu-ray will be released next month'.

Disney would have given me a big bonus check...
