I agree.

AJ was 3rd best tonight at best. He's ruined now. It's not that he lost, it' was the manner.........technically and spiritually bereft.

 

Tyson-Douglas is generally considered as the biggest upset in SPORTS history. Not just boxing, in sporting history.

20 years from now, when AJ is a nobody, this upset won't sniff the biggest of all time.

 

Except Stander basically landed one halfway decent shot that only mildly bothered Frazier before getting his face torn from his skull

 

Miracle On Ice and Leicester City winning the EPL are literally hundreds of times bigger upsets than Douglas/Tyson

 

Frank Bruno, Colin Jones, Eubanks Sr, Benn, Watson, etc. would be a helluva lot more sad or upset after suffering a brutal loss.

I am not surprised per se...I am surprised it was this particular fat guy but I felt it was always possible that AJ would get clocked by the shorter men.....it happened in the Whyte fight and he did the exact same little dance tonight....and Povetkin rattled his cage too as did Takam, a bit. He throws, misses, and get's caught in no mans land.

But that can be fixed...what cannot be fixed is how bereft he seemed of any resolve...he just endeavoured to walk backwards being punched around.

Very unusual.

I know the change of opponent threw him, happened to Vitali with Byrd, these things happen. But there's got to be more to it than that.

 

But Bruno wouldn't have gone out like that. When Wlad got sparked by Sanders, he was actually throwing his own big left hook when he walked in onto a left from Sanders. AJ was just walking backwards, being bullied.

Very unusual. He was like..."yeah, this one I lose.." he even made a little face at Ruiz.

 

Bruno also got beat by guys that were good

But Ruiz isn't Mexican. He's from California. Born in Imperial.

It's very hard to be hard on Fury when the man has never lost, has taken the best the divisions hardest puncher has to offer, and went to Germany and beat the longest reigning man since Joe Louis.

By all means make the argument that he loses to Bowe, loses to Tyson, etc ....a lot of guys would, and did.

What happened tonight stands on it's own feet, which is more than can be said for Joshua....it was a disgraceful inept half-assed performance by a guy who gave me very little impression that he has made ANY adjustments since he turned pro...and who looked for all the World like he didn't care a jot.

It turns on it's own facts, and it cannot be a reflection on Wilder or on Fury.

One things for sure, people wanted Vitali and Family gone...old man Vitali slapped Chris Arreola around and he wouldn't have lost a minute of a round to a guy like Ruiz.

Tonight was truly seismic crock of crap.

I take nothing away from Ruiz, his mentality was absolutely brilliant and he kept his hands up, fought his fight, put his shots together, did his thing , and full credit to him.

See, when Holyfield had his late replacement title defense in the late Bert Cooper, a guy who fought nothing like the original opponent Francesco Damiani, he got seriously hurt and dropped but he fought out of it and won the fight.
