He should never have made the Olympic final. The gift he got against the Cuban in the earlier bout was one of the most disgraceful hometown decisions I've ever seen. He won because he was a 2012 London Poster Boy. Couldn't possibly be allowed to lose early doors. That Cuban lad boxed his fucking ears off.

All other AJ opponents wear scared. They saw big muscles and fear took over. Ruiz doesn't know the meaning of muscles. So he went in and simply ko'ed him.

 

If anyone here hasn't seen it, watch his bout against Savon in the 2012 Olympics. Aside from the fact he lost by miles, what is noticeable is that exactly the same flaws Ruiz exploited last night are all evident. Robotic style, poor movement, no defence, retreating in a straight line.

It's like he's barely improved. It's easy to look good against utter bums, but against elite ammys he looked very vulnerable. Once he stepped up his professional comp, the very same flaws started to show again.

I've watched every single second of Joshua fighting as a pro and every one of his 2011 World Ammy and 2012 Olympic bouts. I've been banging on about the same flaws in him in all that time.

I don't have a 'shitlist'. I enjoy watching him fight because he's rarely in a boring bout. But he's never been as good as advertised. And he likely never will be.

As I've gotten older and more cynical, I've become increasingly averse to bullshit. Joshua has always been surrounded by it on all sides. He was as an ammy and his pro career has been one of the most manufactured, carefully managed and bullshit laden things I've ever seen.

I'm not pleased he lost. I like watching him fight and hoped he'd improve. But I'm fucking delighted fast Eddie has lost out. I hate that bastard.

He got absolutely fucking battered , battered in that final round in the fight with the Cuban. He clung on and the referee took 11 seconds to call break and 13 seconds to actually break them.

Many people have predicted that Joshua will get exposed, based on their eye-test. Seems like they were right.

Wonder though why the same eye-test didn't help them to pick Ruiz over him. Wouldn't this result ALSO suggest that there is more in boxing than meets the eye?

 

If that fight and decision was given in Germany in favour of a hometown fighter, it would be one of those everyone refers to when complaining about 'corruption' and 'robberies'. It was an absolute disgrace.
