While, aye, women will never be as explosive or strong as men, i see no reason to ascribe to sex the other things which can be ascribed to a much smaller talent pool and much less intensive coaching. It's a bit like watching the Zaire team of 1974 using race to explain how disorganized and tactically inept they were

My thoughts precisely and in a much more polite post than I would've managed ... I would have veered from hostility to my typically ingenious and hilarious piss-taking and back

You can't train decision making to excited girls. They won't have it. You'll have to knock them out. There is no other way.

    Meanwhile.......

Who did the Cruyff turn better? Cruyff, when he invented it, in the middle of a game, or Dutch girl vz New Zealand women, 50 years later.

Actual serious fucking question from the BBC today.

Have a guess whose big blue thumb that is?

There's a few reasons why Cruyff's is miles better. The obvious being that he invented it but I look at how he was able to take the ball down from the cross and regain control of it after almost losing it. He then not only tricks his opponent with the quick turn, his opponent almost falls over after losing his footing. Genius.

Martens' move is not on the same level. There's no awkward cross to deal with or anything like that, she simply runs up the wing, turns back and then catches her opponent out, but it's clear to see that the move itself isn't as good.

    It's all in the footwork.

Of courses Cruyffs is better. He practically invented it there and then. Against better opposition.

But like when Joshua got Ko'd by Ruiz, it had to be AS BIG OH MAH GOD AS BIG an upset as when Douglas starched Mike.

Same here, this enforced, SS-Meets-Walt-Disney bullshit from the BBC.......let both feats stand on their own facts, let us enjoy both.

I'd like to think so but it's the BBC enforcing itself on viewers.

USA Women beat Thailand Women 13-0 yesterday. 13-0! No nation should be losing by that scoreline in a world cup. That's just embarrassing.

Its the degree of misdirection caused by how far he commits his whole body to the expected pass then how quick he's able to throw his balance into reverse. It's mj smooth criminal shit, amazing

What, is he some arbiter of fairness when it comes to overreacting to coverage of women's soccer? Fact is, they can write 70000 articles a day and 1% of the few clicks the articles get will be from people genuinely interested in the sport and 99% will be guys outraged that there are any articles to begin with

Most people aren't watching and don't care about this and they aren't convinced women play football as well as Johan Cruyff did

More than anything, it's simply even attempting such a maneuver in a situation like that in that setting... the audacity and confidence to try it and the talent to successfully execute it ... it's entirely possible some chap in a beer league did the same thing a bunch of times years earlier but nobody'd ever seen a move like that at such a high level of competition, that's why it's genius

Did you hear the latest? Women selling dung in China are on a lower commission than men selling Diamonds in central Antwerp. It's a fucking outrage I tell you.
