Very mixed tae be honest. It is the pioneering, tech force in fitba and Ye can see glimpses o' hoo it might eradicate injustices in the future. Goal line tech is proving pretty useful.

Like most spectators, Ah acknowledge bias dependent on which way the VAR decision goes, dae take ma next opinion wi' a pinch o' salt, but considering the experienced, qualified refs watching the boggin' replays - they seem tae make proportionly worse decisions than real time ref!

Just kilting. Who'd be a ref nooawadays!? Permanent aggro.

Whit d'Ye think o' VAR, like?

If this goes in, Chile, who are SHIT, will play England next.

    Absolute fucking Joke penalty.

Justice, Chile hit the bar for the 4th time in the game.

The people who have been using VAR at the Ladies Football Tournament haven't got a fucking clue how to use it.

You have to be smarter than the tool to use it, and these lasses aren't.

I saw it, they were shite, and in fairness.......strictly speaking, the penalty needed retaking and was a penalty.

The one good VAR decision of the the tournament, and Scotland were on the end of it.

I put a £1 on them to draw at 9-1 and was pleasantly surprised.

Scotland just do not qualify from group stages. Male or Female.

I'm not so precious about football that I'd start crying "VAR is ruining football!!!" but then neither was the game ever meant to be scrutinsed like this.

I hate the phrase 'the laws as they stand' and all that beauracratic stuff but VAR seems to be eliminating one of the best thing about football, namely, going crazy when a goal is scored.
Now every time a goal goes in you have to wait 1-2 minutes just to be on the safe side, VAR is sterilizing football.
Football was never intended to be governed by microscopes and slide rules - some of the farcical interference in the natural flows and outcomes of the game as we know it.

I think VAR maybe ought to be limited to whether or not a ball crossed the line ... anything beyond that just seems to bring up new problems

Limeys hate VAR because they won a World Cup when a guy got credited with a hat trick despite only scoring one actual goal

I'd rather they keep VAR and strip Qatar of the World Cup. :D

I agree...goal line technology and VAR are totally different.

It works in Tennis because Tennis is all about lines and where a ball is in relation to a line, or a foot and a line etc.

Tonight, the Thai Keeper came out for a ball.........and her momentum carried her into a Chilean player who by that stage was totally out of the game......the ball was cleared and Chile got a penalty.

It's bullshit. It's basically igorant of the simple rules of causation that govern all human interactions.

It doesn't follow a "But For" rule.....

"But for the collision between the Chilean and the Thai, would anything important have happened?"

    No.

Ireland aren;t in the Ladies Football Tournament...........that's how shite they are. They can't even qualify for a tournament that Thailand {1-20 over 3 games} qualified for.

I've got no problem with VAR, it's already cost England a winner, but fuck it, it's the right decision so it's all good.

Ah cannae disagree wi' any o' the points Irish and Moustarda made re: VAR, particularly hoo it can take away from the beautiful simplicity o' the game. One o' the best things aboot fitba is Ye only need a few people and a pair o' jumpers (ie World Cup Willy rules) and Ye're away... No need fer VAR or a ref.

    SEE YOU (REPLAY)...

    DIDNAE SEE YOU!

I hate the whole thing - the entire soul of fitbaw is the euphoric release of a GOAL. Thats what makes it better than rugby or basketball etc, its such a big thing, a big moment and you go mental. VAR turns a moment of ecstasy into: ok, looks like we might have a goal on our hands here, is it a goal, can we celebrate yet? Now? Not yet? Maybe? Looking good? It's a goal? Actual? Ok, well that's a relief.

Maybe it should be like a challenge in NFL... take the infamous Lampard no-goal... Imagine Fabio Capello has the opportunity to challenge the call... you could make it so a team has a limited time to decide to challenge... say 30 seconds ... and they get one challenge per half and only for goals ... this would decrease the amount of reviews and add a strategic element

    Just a thought

Well it wouldn't happen today. Nowadays you got a chip in the ball that activates the referees watch if it crosses the line.

England were robbed in that game. I thought the English press handled that really well.

In another thread Irish eluded to a Liverpool return for Coutinho. Not sure I'd like the move for a number of reasons. First the price. We don't know what it would be but suffice to say it would be massive. Barca seem to want him gone but being they paid £105 million they're going to want to recoup as much as they can. So for argument's sake lets say they accept an offer for around 75. Would that still be good for Liverpool? Doubtful. Of course they're looking to reinforce like any top club but for that kind of money surely there are other options.

Secondly his form. He never really clicked at Barcelona but he's been very poor for Brazil as well. A return to Liverpool doesn't mean they're getting back the same guy who left.

To top it off I'd like to see more clubs refuse these players wanting to come back when things don't work out. You're already playing for one of the biggest clubs in the world but somehow that's not good enough? Well you got your wish, now live with it. I'm sick of this apparent idea that it should be every player's ultimate goal to play for RM or Barca.

I never rated Coutinho that highly to begin with anyway. He's a good player no doubt but I never saw him as this world-beater. Liverpool can do better, frankly.

Great advertisement for womens football this. Absolutely great. These fucking bushmeat eaters have totally lost their fucking minds. Don't understand the rules? Don't like the rules? Then don't fucking play. BBC need to get a hold of this quickly........nice little exculpatory narrative they have going. People booing......idiots. This is why womens football is a fucking joke. We have you VAR and you can't even get your participants to follow it. Absolutely disgraceful scenes.
