Grohl's a fantastic drummer and seems like a nice guy, I just can't enjoy him in any other capacity as a musician. It's generic bullshit. He's also EVERYWHERE these days presented as the authority on rock, which does my head in.

You can imagine him actually doing the Waynes World "we're not worthy" for real when he met his heroes.

 

On the same level of mediocrity as Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Kings Of Leon, The Killers, Muse, etc

I wouldn't call Kurt a bad guitarist, he was nothing special at all, but he was much more inventive than Grohl (not much of a yardstick, admittedly), and he at least did some interesting things occasionally, it usually sounded good. His forte was as a songwriter, and as McDogg has said previously he had a real ear for melody.
