    I thought Cruise would be the instructor this time which would have been a more realistic way to go. I bet Cruise wanted to turn it into an ass kicking type of film where of course, he’s the one kicking ass.

    I never cared about Top Gun. Watched bits and pieces only. Liked a song or two from the soundtrack. Enjoyed better the spoof 'Hot Shots'.

    I watch Top Gun every now and then, by "watch" I mean the shit with planes in it and fast forward through the rest.

    It’s who we want to see. Others would have stunt people fighting or doing stunt. Cruise is probably flying these planes himself.

    Everyone expected Cruise to be the instructor which is probably why they changed it up. It makes more sense that Cruise is still out there chasing MiGs.

    LOL!
    I was actually hoping for a movie without war time dog fights and stuff. I was looking forward to a more dramatic film based around the school and the training. I actually thought that was some of the best stuff in the first film. I love to watch fighters flying and maneuvering through the air but Top Gun’s dog fights aren’t a rewatchable commodity for me.


    I guess that’s the reason they emphasized him not advancing in rank all these years.

    I’m pretty sure the US Navy ain’t letting Tom Cruise fly a Navy Jet. At the most he might get a little stick time in a backseat with a Navy pilot in front as the main pilot but if you think the Navy is launching Cruise off of a carrier solo just because he’s Tom Cruise you’re nuts. I thought you were joking when you said that the first time.

    No they wont let him fly the military jet, but he will be flying an aircraft. So everything being done through his point of view will be actual footage. The shots of the jet on the outside will be someone else. In top gun, im pretty sure most of it was green screen.

    So then what’s the big deal? It’s fake either way. I like Cruise doing his own stunts too but this isn’t really reflective in the same way.

    Wait, first off what kind of private jet are we talking about here? Because unless it’s something that can spit out after burners they’re going to need some serious CGI to bring his “private jet” up to fighter speed and maneuverability. If he’s doing loop de loops in his jet stream they’re going to have to CGI a Navy plane over that and completely change the look of the plane in the air and the cockpit view since it’s totally different. It’d make more sense (especially financially) to just use real Navy jets with real Navy pilots and pretend Cruise is flying it.

    So like I said, what difference does it make if Cruise is flying the plane or not because it’s fake either way. It’ll be no different than him fake flying in the first Top Gun movie.

    Not sure yet. There is reports he delayed the shooting of the movie a year to learn to second chair the fighter jet. I will do more research

    That’s crazy to me. Why does Cruise think it matters that he fly the jet? Even if he does he’s not actually shooting anybody down. My guess is him being a pilot he probably really wanted the chance to fly a Navy jet.

    When I was in the Air Force they would sometimes give rides in the back seat to special award winners. I worked with a couple people who did and they said the pilot would let them fly a little bit.

    Speaking of flying a fighter; didn’t John Travolta or somebody used to own and fly a fucking Mig?
