No, the WBSS Has Been Poorly Managed. We’ve Gotten Quality Fights Out of It, but the Execution Has Left a LOT to Be Desired. Fights and The Liiiiiiights! That’s Been the Strength of the WBSS. REED
Prograis is trying to weasel out of the contract, not sure if ha can since he has been paid what was promised beforehand. The catch is that he is now worth much more than he was when the tournament began, and he would be able to get much bigger bucks from elsewhere, outside the tournament
Now That Ramirez is the Division's Only 2-Belt Titlist, Arum Will Undoubtedly Demand 3-5 Fights (MINIMUM) from Prograis, If He Were to Win... If Prograis-Taylor DOESN'T Happen, They BOTH Have Less Leverage in a Jose Ramirez Negotiation...& It's Sad Because the Prograis-Taylor Winner Would Undoubtedly Have MORE Leverage than Ramirez... Granted, Team Prograis Obviously Had a Working Relationship w/Top Rank, Not Soooooo Looooong Ago, But Would Regis Want to COMMITT As Many Of his PEAK Boxing Years as it Would Take to Fulfill Arum's Inevitable Offer?... Arum LITERALLY Offered Wilder a 3-Fight Deal for the RE w/Fury, w/No Assurances of WHICH Of Those 3 Bouts Would Be Against Fury... REED
That's Not Cool... The Whole Point of the Tournament was to ENHANCE the Profiles of the Participants...If the Purses were FULLY Pre-Determined and Dude's agREED to Terms Initially, It's Not Cool to Back Out NOW...Doesn't Mean Prograis' "Scared" Of or "Ducking" Josh Taylor Though (Doub)…. Most Hardcore Fans and Fighters Favored Prograis Anyways... REED
Prograis does have a point in his lawsuit though. The schedules of the tournament have been delayed and payments have been late too. Prograis could reasonably claim that according to the original promises the tournament should be over by now, and Prograis probably should be in position to make money in new fights by now. So even though Prograis likely would want to get a bigger purse in his next fight and that is the real reason he wants out of the tournament, there is his side in the story too. And no way is he avoiding Taylor
He's not ducking anyone and I told his trainer it ws a bad idea to get involved in this tournament. It takes forever and inactivity does a fighter no good. Guys like Inoue and Regis you have to keep busy.
prograis should sign with top rank, he can get a ramirez fight with the winner to face crawford on PPV
I wouldn't mind seeing Crawford-Prograis. I think Crawford would fuck Regis up, BUT... it's better than watching Bud fight these no-talent bums.
LOL. I think Rougarou would give a good account of himself, but Crawford is the just higher quality fighter.
I don't see Crawford fighting the guy. I'd pick Regis in that one - too and powerful hits too hard. I think I stated this before - he came up with the Charlo's, Omar Henry and Vanes Martirosyan when he was still in the ammys and they were all out wars at Savannah's. Bud couldn't dent him he is too hard nosed a kid.
WHEN Would He Get the Ramirez Fight is the Question? Fight 3 of a 3-Fight Deal Ain't Terribly Enticing... REED
Good ole Jake reported on The Scene that Prograis-Taylor is NOT dead in the water, and is being worked on for Oct. 26th. I figured as much.
