    76 was stronger than 77.

    Taxi Driver
    Network
    Rocky
    The Omen
    The Outlaw Josey Wales
    Carrie
    All the President's Men
    Marathon Man

That lineup alone shits on 77.

Those are a bit too intellectual for the likes of Panchy aka Mr. "I does not loved this movie but it is still good. 9/10"

That´s a great list from a fuckin great year, regardless of movies.

I´d even add the likes of
    The Shootist
    The Bad News Bears
    Silver Streak
    Assault On Precinct 13

In fact, 1976 was probably the last year for great movies before merchandise tie-ins became the norm for movies.

There isn't really a standout in 99. A lot of very good movies, but not a damn one that I'd consider a masterpiece.

    07 had two masterpieces.

There doesn´t need to be a standout, otherwise 1977 would be greatest evah with Star Wars.

not at all...they're pretty close, but 1999 is slightly better

    1999:
    Matrix - fag nerd shit
Fight Club - an ok movie, good for a one time watch
Being John Malkovich - best movie of the year
The Sixth Sense - good to watch once

    what else?

    2000:
    Snatch - gold
    American Psycho - gold dust
    Memento - decent
Requim for a Dream - decent
    Traffic - decent
Unbreakable - same shit as sixth sense

I agree The Matrix is fag nerd shit.
    Magnolia is a masterpiece
    Fight Club is awesome
Eyes Wide Shut is a masterpiece - only a lot of people didn´t (not surprisingly) get it
    Election is a brilliant black-comedy
Galaxy Quest - forgot about this very underated comedy
Being John Malkovich - already noted
The Talented Mr Ripley - awesome cast

Funnily enough, the ones I didn´t like - The Blair Witch Project, The Sixth Sense, American Beauty - a lot of people loved.

Talented Mr. Ripley is an excellent movie. Definitely a top 5 of 99.

I've never seen Election. I should make it a point to watch it this week.

Shooter? The one with Marky Mark? That movie was GARBAGE!

Sunshine was good - very underrated sci-fi flick.

    I can't consider Magnolia a masterpiece.

In fact, I don't even think it's a top 3 Paul Thomas Anderson film.

There Will Be Blood, Boogie Nights, and The Master were all better than Magnolia.
