Kov is old. Too many asterisks next to a win for either guy. I’d much rather he fought Smith. Be a more legit fight and a better atmosphere with the UK fans.

I'll watch it but am not sure what it means other than the usual box office star cherry picking a higher weight Titleist because he reckons kovalev is worn and soft in the middle, no chance he would face Bivol and looks like he really has no interest in seeing golovkin in the ring again as long as he has some life in him

 

Kovalev is more proven than Bivol.

It says a lot. If boxing fans can clearly see Kovalev's decline insiders surely have picked up on and know more than the public. Even Sergei's power has appeared to have diminished quite a lot and he's never been a good inside fighter. If it goes the distance I think we all know who gets the decision.

Still can't completely crap on Canelo for this though. Yeah, clearly this is a strategic move from various standpoints but Kovalev is a champion coming off a decent win and is a few weight
classes above. It's not like he just suffered some massive injury and Alvarez is trying to get him in the ring before he gets home from the hospital.

 

Weird fight.......I mean Canelo natural weight is probably 168-175...but still it's not like he has Floyd Mayweather reflexes, footwork, defense, etc....if Kovalev, even the washed up version rocks him he isn't coming back... sloppy, slow, decrease power, punch resistance(chin) Kovalev might be right for the pickings....STILL give Canelo credit he's finally fighting someone slightly bigger/his own size.

What is more likely to happen is if Canelo beats Kovalev, Ward gets $30 million to come out of retirement to out-box Canelo
