I’m hearing good things about Ad Astra, kind of the opposite for Rambo.

  2. I'm hearing exactly what I expected: critics hate it, audiences like it.

Well Ad Astra critics love it, but audience hates it. Complete opposite of Rambo.

Ad astra is Art House. I recommend people watch The Lost City of Z. If you like that movie, you will enjoy Ad Astra. Same Director, Same style.

I had virtually no interest in watching it until I read those reviews. It's gotten to the stage in the last few years that the movies the critics gush
are nearly all complete and utter crap.

89 year old Rambo, Ad Astra... god, who gives a fuck about these fucking nothing films ... Stallone should've been a non-entity 30 years ago never mind continuing to churn out third-rate trash as a senior ... all the Rambo movies are shite ... the first one is the only one where you have any reason to give a fuck about him and even then they have to basically victimize him so much that you have no choice but to root for him ... the guy is a mush-mouthed palsy face with zero charm or likability... his career is totally baffling ... as for AIDS Astro, looks tedious as fuck and Brad Pitt clearly trying to sad-face his way to an Oscar nomination because it's like his turn or something like that. Mainstream film is so shit that now critics pretend some self-consciously heavy-handed tripe like that is actually a good film ...

No! And I don't like Aaron Copland either!

  9. Boring.

Even for the 1990s it was a boring movie.

Stallone will continue making movies as long as they keep making money and he gets paid a good salary. Look at Clint Eastwood. He looks like a fucking mummy, yet his last film THE MULE made $174 million. His second best box office numbers ever (Gran Torino is #1). Both films made at a geriatric age.

Except Eastwood has a legacy of stellar filmmaking and is one of the most charismatic screen stars ever, a true movie star

Stallone has the legacy of accidentally making a good movie 43 years ago and spending the entire interim churning out braindead sludge carried by his complete lack of charisma

One is a cultural treasure, the other a cultural perversity

I like Stallone. Probably my favorite action star for the 80s. He is a likable brute.

Eastwood is awesome too, but let’s not all pretend he didn’t steal his on screen presence from jack palance
