I never said he wouldn't be a contender in any era. He's a damn good fighter. But we're talking about one of the 5-10 best to ever do it... and Spence will never be on THAT kind of level. He'd be outta his depth against Ray. Problem is Spence doesn't have the foot quickness and reflexes of Duran to close the distance on Leonard, and he's not a fraction as defensively adept. He'd be a step behind all night, and he'd get hit A LOT.
The hand speed of Leonard would be something that Spence has not seen. And the likelihood of not having much success boxing Ray from the outside leads to Spence having to gamble. He’ll get shots in and make Ray feel some pressure but he ends up taking a horrific beating. Leonard TKO 9
REED Thinks Hearns Would be THE Absolute Worst Matchup for Spence (and a Lot of Other Fighters), but Otherwise agREED... Ray Leonard was a GENERATIONAL Fistic Talent; Errol Spence is a Very Good, Potentially Great Fighter for his Era... Leonard Beats Spence 8 Out of 10 Times, Maybe 9... REED
