Great stuff. When do Liverpool play City? That game is crucial. Almost a re-run of last season.

Usually I don't pay much heed to the table until after Christmas, but City and Liverpool set such a ridiculous pace that any points dropped are absolutely massive.

People are already comparing it to last season, including one fool on the BBC who says "City clawed back an insurmountable lead last year"- fake news.

They were 7 behind with a game in hand which happened to be at home.........to Liverpool. So a bit different alright.

Critically.............Liverpool go to United next..........but its after the break.

Man City, typical, have Palace at home. Palace are rubbish at home.

Why couldn't it be an in-form Chelsea?

The next time Liverpool play City will be on November 10th.

But the real kicker here is the return in April............what a cruncher that might be.

    Liverpools next 4 league games..........

    United v Liverpool
    Liverpool v Tottenham
    Liverpool v Arsenal
    Villa v Liverpool
    Liverpool v Man City

Win them all and that might be that.

I did say it earlier...........Offense wins fans, Defense wins games. No Kompany and no replacement for LaPorte, for all the money spent.........seems folly now.

City have more losses in them, I am sure of it.

City are a great team for kicking the shit out of guys who don't want to be there. Not so good at finding a big punch when way behind on the cards.

People say "Oh yeah 2012......." but that was 7 years ago and a TOTALLY different thing. Even then United handed it to them.

Olly will get fired during the international break, I am sure of it.Woodward will have him sacked while the focus is elsewhere and time is on his side to get a replacement.

Yes we may have lost to Newcastle but we got 3 shots on target which is a marked improvement from the last game. Newcastle is a tough place to go so to only lose 1-0 is a good result.

Fans are singing "sacked in the morning". I feel that's very harsh, Steve Bruce seems to be doing a decent job under the circumstances.

    LOL

He strikes me as a guy who won a competition to be United Manager, same as Moyes.

BUT Moyes was NEVER this bad, mainly because he was, well, a better manager with a better track record.

Olly says that to play Liverpool next is "Perfect"........he's right in a way. A ho-hum fixture would probably be as risky. This way he can use the febrile nature of the crowd to whip a performance out of his players.

I think in my mind it wouldn't be a great idea to wear a Liverpool jersey in Manchester today no matter what part of town you're in.

Starting to see Mourinho's point when he said finishing 2nd with that United team is one of his best achievements. They are an utterly atrocious side.

Yeah I mean Wolves were 18-1 at 0-0 after 80 minutes so they were probably 20-1 at one point. Livingston probably the same.

That gives you 400-1 just for openers. 440-1 I think.

So 200-1 at any given point would have been there, certainly.

Much less so, Man United were 5/4 and Newcastle were less than 3-1.

But Newcastle, Wolves and Livingston gives you life changing odds.

    Yeah but he signed guys.

When Liverpool went into decline following the heady Benitez years..............and Hodgson had come in and Liverpool were 3 points off the relegation spots by New Years of 2010.............it followed years of criminal mismanagement by Hicks and Gillet.

On Dec 29th 2010, Liverpool had 22 points from 18 games {1.22 PPG}, were 3 above the drop zone. United, today, have 9 from 8 {1.12 PPG} So it's more or less the same thing.

At one point in 2007, Momo Sissoko was sold to Juventus for £7m to cover the cost of Martin Skrtel, who signed for £5m from ZSP.

United- who now find themselves in a similar position as outlined above- have, in the same period that they fell from CL contention and top 4 regularity........spent just shy of a half-billion Sterling NET.........won the FA Cup and the Europa League........and the Carling Cup. They have not contended for the League or been even close. They finished 2nd but really finished 1st ahead of everyone else behind City, if you know what I mean.

Total shambles. Vast fortunes- I mean Dynasty Fortunes, the sort of money you can dominate Europe with..............spunked on people like Di Maria or "Memphis" or Marounane Fellaini, Lukaku etc.

It shows you how Ferguson lucked out. Yes he made brave decisions but he got the luck with the youth players that came in. They saved United a packet. Giggs, Butt, Sharpe, Beckham, Scholes, the Molester Brothers, etc.

United have been forced into the market and it's fraught with risk.

He won the title in 2013 with an absolute WANK side which should have got nowhere near the top of the league.

I do agree with the spending but to be fair to Mourinho the Pogba signing was forced upon him, he never wanted to sign the guy.

Ferguson did aye but like you said it was in rag order and he was winning stuff because people were afraid of them.

That said he still had RVP, Giggs and an emerging DDG, the leftovers of Ferdinand etc.

But if Liverpool of 08/09, 13/14 or the past two years had been there, United wouldn't have won shit.

Ferguson had them all terrified. Once the fear went, the flaws were obvious.

It was like the fall of Rome. Every tribe from the Danube to Didcot was having a go.
