Yeah, Corrales' career was basically finished when he died.

That MIGHT be a contributing factor for why he was drunk off his ass and speeding on his bike.

Besides Sal Sanchez, another elite fighter who died in a car accident at the PEAK of his powers was flyweight Masao Ohba in the 70s. Like Sanchez, he was 23.

Ohba was quite good. Definitely worth Youtubing him if you're not familiar. Very likely would have been a HOFmer if he hadn't died.

Yeah, if you were a Corrales fan, the fight with Clottey was rough to watch.

I think he had alcohol problems for awhile though. Wasn’t he drunk when he beat the hell out of his pregnant wife? Maybe his career going downhill caused him to drink more.

Same with Gatti, he had substance abuse problems for awhile and maybe got worse after his career ended. I think he very likely had CTE as well.
