I don't understand a lot of the outrage here. Boxing is a cynical sport at its core and Ruiz is simply not cynical enough. Hearn is cynical.......he maximized profit on a losing venture and took his man AWAY from the home crowd that would bray him into getting KO'd again. Simultaneously he did just enough to drag Ruiz away from his own fervent support and into a setting whereby subtle but probably legal tweaks could be made. Conservative referee. Big ring.No huge press attention or Mexican Bellhops setting off fire alarms in Joshs hotel.

Ruiz made no adjustments and didn't prepare for anything other than a repeat of the first fight.

Yes the BS from Joshua is hard to stomach but the fact is that Ruiz didn't earn it tonight.

The fact that he copied Wlad, albeit badly, is neither here nor there. It's hard listening to the cunts who bashed Wlad suddenly talk about "Maestros" but again thats the business we are in.

Ruiz........He's a nice fat kid who lucked out, made $9m and like a lot of people handled being poor better than he did being rich.

    Welcome to the NFL, rookies.

I'm no athlete but I know when I am too heavy and when I am eating wrong. It's simple stuff.

    I don't move...I don't fucking eat.

Actually it was the Brewster KO that changed Wlad but your point is still correct. Difficult to see Joshua turning that fear into that much success

He was paid to not train and get fat by Hearn most likely. Guarantee the win.

I think wlad was drugged for that fight. He would have fought brewster the same scared way.

Not really. It was a bit of the Brewster fight a bit of the Williamson fight and absolutely every second of the Sam Peter fight.

And Peter was a heavier handed man than Ruiz.

Wlad did Byrd next so the stink wasn't obvious.

    But he honed it thereafter.

    I doubt it somehow.

  11. I originally said that a couple of days ago, but you're correct: Ruiz Jr just gambled wrong and Joshua did what a tall guy should do against a shorter guy with fast hands: box him from long-range and don't get caught in the mid-range.

first time watching on danz. The stream was impeccable. Well worth the 150 for the year

And drop weight to make it happen. Joshua looked skinny. 9lbs sounds like fuck all. It's a lot. It's 4 and half of the old bags of sugar. Try carrying that around all day.

It was literally boxing by numbers and it makes me laugh listening to the BBC who for a solid decade whined about this very thing but adopted it at the drop of a hat, or the drop of a heavyweight, or 4.

Ruiz was like Pazienza against Rosenblatt. I knocked him out and I will do it again.

    No.

    Nothing is guaranteed.

Ruiz, in the biggest fight of his life, pulled an Arreola.

I didn't like Joshua's performance. But it wasn't nearly as stinky as the kind of shit Wlad used to pull.

it was a shit fight, but it wasn't nearly as disgraceful as what Wlad was doing against non-threat like shot to shit mormeck

Wlad didn't fight any 280lb lardasses living off a 30-1 flash in the pan, either.

How much of a threat should a 280lb guy be to a guy like Joshua?

  20. Hate doing comparisons but an obvious one spings to mind:
Superfight II: Ali v Frazier, Jan. '74

Everyone criticized Ali for tying-up Frazier/pushing his head down for 12 rounds instead of replicating the thrills 'n' spills of their first Fight Of The Century three years earlier.

fuck off Irish. He just got Koed by him a few months ago. Ruiz, even if he was fatter, was still a huge threat to AJ

Ali was a notorious head holder.

  23. It is a lot.
I notice it when I drop from 220 to 210.

    And that happens regularly

Saw the highlights and it looked to me like Ruiz was just there for the check. He looked to have landed some nice shots when he unleashed but he didn’t train seriously at all.

AJ did well, I suppose. Some minor details he appeared to tighten up on but i don’t think he beats Fury. He’d have a better chance against Wilder but it’s hard to imagine him going 12 rounds without getting caught by him eventually and there lies the problem. AJ could very well be up 11-0 on the cards and get caught with something he can’t recover from.

I know. And I agreed with how he fought. And I disagree with how Ruiz prepared.

I also disagree with Wlad somehow coming out badly of a Joshua vs Ruiz fight !!

And the rematch with Spinks too. Jab and hold and tie up and befuddle.

Obviously a vastly higher level than tonight. I mean Ruiz might splatter Spinks but Joshua wouldn't beat Ali.

Unlike Joshua, Wilder Could Afford to Trade w/Ruiz and He'd Stretch Him in an Exchange...

This nonsense about hearns buying Ruiz off is just that, nonsense. Guy would have been in line for some massive massive paychecks if he won the re.

But you're trying to say it's hypocritical to call out Wlad's stink but praise Joshua's. But Joshua's holding wasn't nearly as bad as Wlad's. Wlad never had good footwork like Joshua showed. He'd just throw a punch and then lean on his opponent and wait for the ref to break them so he could do the same thing over again.

  30. Jesus of montreal

the main thing was that Wlad was doing it in all his fucking fights, while AJ only did it in this one and the Parker one (to a lesser extent).
