As suspected by anyone willing to put in the time to actually watch the movie, Pesci and Pacino both nominated for Golden Globes. Deniro not nominated. Movie Nominated for Best Picture and Best Director.

And the thing about that scene is that is not how Scorsese even shoots his ass kicking scenes. He always does closeups. I mean we all know that Pesci and deniro stopping someone out would look silly even if they were younger from war away. You can just tell by their movements. But the close up saves them. Check out goodfellas

Scorsese really made the ass kick angel from the perspective of the audience looking up at the person ass they are getting their ass kicked famous. Almost as if the actors were kicking the cameras ass. So this angel from far away made no sense.

 

They could have used deniro but they should have had a better commitment. Deniro should have lost a good 25 pounds for the role for his younger days. Shoot closeups of the action scenes or used body doubles. Common sense shit. Don’t show far away action scenes of your 75 year old star, pretending to be 43 and expect it to look good. Even at that age it’s dangerous and the man could fall and break a hip. And to be honest the way deniro was moving, that’s exactly how it looked. As if he was afraid he was going to break something.

Adversaries on the set excuse. Phoenix wanted fuck all go do with deniro after that. Imagine telling someone like Phoenix, an established actor, nominated for best actor twice, the star of the movie how to do his job? Deniro is barely in the joker.

The lines are learned at home. The read through is just some geriatric bullshit people use to do. What does deniro need a read through of a movie he is in for 5 minutes?

 

Read throughs are the whole movie. You sit and you read the whole script from beginning to end. It’s a pointless thing to do for some. Phoenix who is in most of the movie doesnt need it to get ready. Deniro is barely in the movie needed it to understand his character? Please. But when Phoenix wins his best actor award for joker he will be vindicated.
