Russian boxing federation bans poor fighters

    The idea is that if a fighter doesn't fight properly, ie. takes an obvious dive or gets himself DQd, he is banned from boxing for a year (Sergey Luchankin just got such punishment). Usually fighters have been banned only for breaking rules or if they have been severely damaged.

    Do you think such policy should be more common?

    I think so if it's indeed clear but a policy is only as good as the people enforcing it.

    I think the Russian Boxing Federation has bigger issues.

    Yep, i would ban him and would have withheld whatever meager purse he was about to collect.

    There's the saying "it's the punch that you don't see coming that knocks you out".

    Maybe that needs to be changed to it's the punch that doesn't land at all that knocks you out.

    Ya they should do this in all sports. Soccer included. Taking a dive is essentially fraud. In real life you get severely punished for fraud but in sports you just get laughed at at most.. you collect the cheque and the train keeps going
