Size advantage has always been the only way Chavez can win a meaningful fight. At 154 he dwarfed his opponents and just beat em up despite being total shit. Hope's he gets ktfo. Doubt he trained hard.

Thats absurd. He had to make weight like the other fighter. If he was willing to strain himself more to lose more weight that's all to his merit

 

If you find it meritorious, that is fine. But bottom line is he needed (and for years enjoyed) a ridiculous size advantage on fight night.

Yep. In a few early fights he looked OK. Decent left hook, worked the body and showed some patience. Granted it was against scrubs but he was not only living in an enormous shadow but learning on the job.

There was room for "forgiveness". Unfortunately rather than gradually improving he chose to coast. Not that he had the skill or mentality to be great but he could have been less than a disgrace.

 

Again. Absurdity. There's a ton of disadvantage associated with drastic weight cutting. If his opponents were not able to take advantage of them, that s their problem, not chavez one.

IIRC he made the weight legally for pretty much all of his best performances.

 

cutting a lot of weight is something young fighters are able to do. once chavez jr got older and was no longer able to do that he became useless.
