For those of us who really, really hate Youtube and their extensive, obtrusive data collection policies, posting the videos here is a great way for us to be able to watch them without going to website and having to accept all their data shite. That was essentially a seven minute wank over REED's favourite fighter, but it was a good watch nonetheless. I liked the 'man in a van with a toothpick' thing, but the new style with the clips and pics works better IMO. MTF

Roy is one of the very few 12 round boxers with big gloves that I think could compete in the 15 round era with success. He wouldn't have done what he did, but he would have won the world title in some eras, yes. I could see for instance him outpointing LaMotta (though I am not picking Roy to win the fights) Basilio Downes, Pender, Corro - guys like that. Now, Monzon, Hagler and an old Ray Robinson are far different matters, altogether. I don't like him in any of those fights to win. But: the very best a fighter can do is to be the Best of His Era, and RJJ was certainly that.
I hope that you understand that 3 extra rounds isn't gonna enable an inferior fighter to overcome a superior one. And Roy's not a fighter who was lacking in stamina anyway. He was always every bit as fresh in the later rounds as he was early on. Personally, gimme Roy over Hagler, Monzon, and Robinson. He was too big and too physically talented for all 3. I dont think theres a fighter in history under 175 who should be favored over Roy.
A fighter hasn't had his test of fire until he goes the championship rounds - 13, 14 and 15. which separates the men from the boys. When you have a big man coming at you hitting you in the body when you are exhausted after 12- that is how an individual's worlds fall apart Roy is not bigger than Carlos Monzon was. You can pick whom you wish - I don't see him winning any of those last three fights you mentioned.
No fighter of the 12 round era with great stamina (Floyd, Hopkins, Pac, Trinidad, Jones, ect) is gonna be affected much by 3 extra rounds. Any suspect stamina guy is gonna be exposed in a 12 rounder - it doesn't require 15 rounds to uncover that deficiency. Therefore, in your defense, the 15-round era would affect suspect stamina guys like Oscar, Cotto, Kovalev, and Canelo. And yes, Roy was without question a bigger man than Monzon. Monzon was taller by 2 inches, but Jones was certainly the larger framed man.
That has nothing to do with it - Carlos did not lift weights and did not use PED's. You have no idea about 15 rounds until you have done it. I used to do it many years ago in the gym - and it is a Massive Difference. The way Jones jumped and hopped around he would gas out very badly against far more relaxed a fighter such as Monzon who would walk him down and hurt him inside after he had ranged Roy out. I don't want to keep talking about this. You are not going to change my opinion and I am not gonna change yours, so let's move on, shall we?
Roy would obviously light up those old-timers with ease. They’d be shocked and concussed. Rounds 13-15 wouldn’t come into play for any of them, they’d be sleeping well before then.
