Liverpool certainly have a shot at the CL and honestly the league isn’t even close ... I could see if they were 5 points up but they’re miles ahead... I could absolutely see them winning the CL along with it

 

Yeah I'm usually too overly-cautious to call league wins early for teams I actually like but 16 points with a game in hand? Lol come on, that shit's done.

I could definitely see them winning the CL again but I really want them to break these records, if you set those kinds of standards it's near-impossible to refute a team's greatness. The thing is I don't think they can do both.

 

Is Henderson better than Gerrard? I would have laughed in your face and slapped you if you'd said that to me a few years ago, and I'm not even a big fan of Gerrard, but there's no denying Henderson has improved massively and is a core element of this team.

If Liverpool win the PL and the CL Irish still won't be happy because they didn't snatch the Caramel cup and demand Klopp be fired.

 

It's weird, he was obviously a fantastic player but I don't think he'd fit into the current side. Would go for too many glory balls and disrupt the team play they have going.

I've probably said this before but somebody I used to work with went to one of those League Manager Association do's years ago and he got to ask a question to Ferguson and Wenger, who were doing the Q and A together. His question was "who would you rather have in your team, Lampard or Gerrard?", both said "Lampard" without any hesitation. Ferguson provided more insight, saying you could fit Lampard into a system, things along those lines and whilst he respects Gerrard, "he wouldn't suit the United style" or something like that.

I actually think that while this is true the level of quality in the Premier League may temporarily have equalled that of the Champions League. If the CL was as bad-ass a tournament as it claims to be, there's no way Real would have won it 3 in a row. No way.....City can't even do 3 in a row in England, they barely managed 2 and one of them was by 1 point.

Liverpool have pissed on sides like Porto, Moscow, Maribor, Salzburg etc and these guys would not, week for week, prove better than Wolves, City, Leicester, Sheffield United even....Chelsea and Spurs, as dire as they have been in the League this year, are out of their CL groups and into the KO stages regardless.

I mean Norwich have a win over City. Palace have a draw. But City can go to Donetsk and what-have-y0u and win easy.

Young Benitez-era Gerrard would fit fine, he would have been able to play to Klopp's approach. Later Gerrard was too static, wouldn't feature

 

People forget things in football so easily, and for good reason, there's so many games and seasons fly by.

But in 2014, Gerrard slipped vs Chelsea when he was way down the field. Normally he'd play behind the striker.

The reason he was there? Henderson got sent of vs City and was banned for that game.

That was 6 yearsa go now.....Henderson has stuck in two CL finals and 2 title challenges since.

He's actually played in 3 Liverpool sides that challenged for Titles. Gerrard managed 2 and 2 CL finals.

 

Yep, 2006 Gerrard. Whether he would get a regular game is not so sure. Never fancied him as captain material, way way way too "Charge of the Light Brigade" for my liking, when what was needed was a more prosaic regular-approach.

One thing that has to be said is that Gerrards flaws and talents were always more pronounced the worse a side he played in.

At one time, he looked as shit as he did because he simply couldn;'t trust his team mates, and he looked as good as he did..............because he simply didn't trust his team mates.

I shall never forget his air-shot vs West Ham in 2008 when he just couldn't bring himself to pass to Robbie Keane.

Robbie Keane.......another guy I'd have loved to see play in this side. He'd have been right at home in Klopps Mental Machine.

Luck and/or some bias in officiating doesn't achieve three titles in a row. Somehow they find a way to get it done when all the chips are on the table.
