Youtube comments are the absolute bear pit of comedic brilliance. I swear most writers go there and steal stuff for their skits.

Best bit of the entire thing has to be the Coral bookies case.

Massive tax debts, on and off the field issues, sex abuse allegations, utter anarchy..........and right in the middle of all of this is some guy who put a bet on that Rangers would be relegated........

In January 2017, the Court of Session heard an action from Albert Kinloch against bookmakers Coral.[137] The bookmaker had refused to pay out on a bet made by Kinloch that Rangers would be "relegated" after the 2011–12 Scottish Premier League season.[137] Kinloch said in court that he had placed the bet after learning that Rangers were in financial difficulties.[137] The court found in the bookmakers' favour, ruling that Rangers had not been relegated.[138]

I bet Kinloch then said............"How tay fuck have they not been........when ye start in the Prem and gooo to they 3rd davission how the fuck have ye not been relly gated?

West Ham started off the match looking like they all had one too many pints in Plaistow last night. Now they're hanging in there.

I see Liverpool winning this 3-1.

Because of this Carbonara Cup nonsense i forgot Liverpool were playing. I'm assuming this is their game in hand.

Yes. This is the game that was postponed in December when they were playing in the world club tournament. They aren't supposed to schedule fixtures when there are cup ties or CL or EL games going on. But the FA has pissed all over that rule for the last couple of years.

Oh no! Matic with a red card. I guess that means if he's still playing with United or in the EPL next year he'll have to miss Carpaccio Cup games.

So it's Citeh v Aston Villa for the League Cup. Villa could do what their rival, Birmingham City did a while back. Win it and get relegated. Playing in the Championship and the Europa League the next season. Wigan did the same thing but it was the FA Cup (beating Citeh in the 2013 final.)

Had the trots earlier. Bad bum wee. On my 5th passage I found the culprit: 4 almost pristine mushroom stalks floating in a sea of bile and shit. I was sure I chewed them. What I am not sure is that I washed them. Ate them raw like a champ. Paid the price like a chump.

Well, turns out the ENT specialists discovered I have a cholesteatoma in my right ear. Urgent surgery required. Good chance I lose all my hearing in that ear after surgery, small chance I'm paralysed on one side of my face. Basically fuck all chance of getting any editing or production work once I leave the BBC. Shitty fucking week, it has to be said.

Jesus, very sorry that this is happening to you. Is this a totally random medical condition or is it an occupational hazard etc? Why would anyone deny you work on the basis of a disability, simply because you cannot hear the subject matter fully? And why are you leaving the BBC?

Thanks bud, appreciate it. I'm kind of all over the place at the minute as I was only diagnosed on Tuesday and there's some big life changes in store for me now. To answer your first question I've always had problems with this one ear but it's a very difficult thing to diagnose and is quite rare so I can't really blame them for not picking it up sooner, but no it's not an occupational hazard, it's just I've always had a fucked up ear, I just didn't know how fucked it actually was.

The problem with basically being deaf (my hearing has dropped 80% in the bad ear) in one ear is that nearly everything these days is filmed in stereo, so that means you might have narration on one channel for example, and natural sound on the other channel. If I can't play things out loud, then I would have to use headphones, which means I play something on the left ear, see if all is good, and then I have to play everything back and swap the headphones round to make sure all is right on the right channel. Basically takes me twice as long as it would for somebody with two good ears, and time is money, essentially.

With regards to the BBC, it's been a wonderful place to work and they've been great with what's going on with me, they just don't pay well enough. I was hoping in a year's time to move in with my girlfriend, who earns pretty well herself but she has a daughter who is seriously ill and I don't want to be a burden on her, I want to pay my way and contribute to the little one's wellbeing. It's just a shitty situation to be honest mate and this has thrown a huge spanner into the works.

That's terrible news. Hopefully they are just preparing you for the worst, and the surgery won't have either of those outcomes.

Emre Can joins Dortmund. From what i've read most BVB seem pretty happy. I'm kind of 60/40 on it. Good player, but also good for committing fouls in dangerous areas and a lot of yellow cards.

    Very sorry, Slice

    I trust it’s not malignant?

I have over 80% hearing loss in my right ear and around 30% in my left... I’m pretty much always slightly dizzy and on occasion I’ll get terrible vertigo and have to lie down

One thing that I have found though is that although obviously the experience is definitely diminished, I can still listen to music on headphones... your brain kind of compensates for the deficit ... it’s really only things that where certain sounds in the spectrum are panned extreme right that I find the headphones are no longer practical... like I couldn’t listen to a stereo version of Rubber Soul in headphones anymore because it’s like drums and bass in one speaker, guitar and vocals in the other ... but if the panning is a little less harsh, I find my brain seems to compensate so that I can hear things reasonably from the right channel

of course, I’m not doing it in a professional capacity so this pretty much useless but I suppose I’m just empathizing... genuinely feel bad for you, it sucks

maybe it’ll work out just fine... isn’t that also a possible outcome?

Thanks mate. I've joined a few groups on Facebook with other people who have had it and it seems the results vary wildly, guess it's just dependant on the size of it, where it's located and how much damage it has done already.

Thanks man, no it's benign thankfully.

I remember you saying a long time ago that you had some hearing loss but I didn't realise the extent of it, is that just from playing music over the years or was it through illness? Do you ever find if you're in a loud place like a club (not that I ever go to clubs) you can find it really disorientating, like your good or "better" ear is almost overloaded with stimuli?

I haven't been able to use headphones (on doctor's advice whilst they were trying to diagnose me) for about 14 months, I really miss it. I had the exact same problem as you do if I listened to an album in stereo, I was only able to hear half the song! If I have a mono version however it's absolutely fine and like you say the brain adjusts and levels it out. At the moment I work from home on Tuesdays and Thursdays and I can edit because I can play everything out loud, work have been great in that sense but I'm not sure other companies would be as accomodating.

There is a chance it works out fine, there are some cases where they have been able to improve the hearing to some extent with implants and things like that, but mainly you are hoping for damage limitation, as in it doesn't get worse, after the op. During the initial operation their focus is purely on removing the cholesteatoma, hearing is secondary. The second operation (if the first is a success) is to try and reconstruct the middle ear.
