Yeah Bojado already had groupies saying he was the next Oscar but once he lost to old man Leija that was it.
At the time, his performances were compared to Cotto's each time out, considering they were coming up at the same time and viewed as the two best prospects in the sport. Back then, 95% of the forum (and this was obviously Second's Out) felt that Bojado had the brighter future of the two - myself included. Anybody who says otherwise is a liar. There were literally only 5-6 posters who felt Cotto was the better prospect. We were wrong. That fat fuck.
hence, that's why most of these comparaison discussion bring us nowhere. I think he look a lot more similar to fimo than Vargas. Wargas was less fluid on his feet than bojado was
I have been studying some footage and came to the conclusion that Vergil Ortiz is the next Kirk Johnson.
The Bazan performance was the breakout that made the boxing world take notice of Cotto. If I'm not mistaken, until then he was featured on Top Rank undercards. It was shortly after that he started appearing on HBO. Unless I have the timeline wrong, by then Bojado had already been exposed by Juan Carlos Rubio.
What made me take notice of Cotto was seeing him on that Roy and Erik Morales undercard, at the Staples Centre in 2001 when he was just a novice. He looked damn good even then, after just a few pro fights.
Absolutely. I liked Cotto a lot, from the moment I saw him, but I won't pretend I didn't agree with the consensus that Panchito was a better prospect. Astonishing how different the reality was, Cotto's career was about a million times better.
Generally speaking when an "American" fighter loses a fight at the Olympics in disputed fashion to a "USSR" guy...I presume he is going to have a good career. One exception......that guy Ricky Williams who got Silver in 2000 when he lost to the Cuban. He turned out to be a ball of shit who didn't want to train.
If lopez knocks out lomachenko, the Taylor-Ramirez winner, then beats crawford, spence and ortiz in 2021 would you consider that on par with/or better than ray Leonard's stretch of beating Benitez, Duran, hearns and kalule?
REED's Big on MANNER of Victory... Leonard Went 2-1 w/Duran and Had His Struggles w/Hearns and Kalule...Depending on HOW Teofimo Beat Those Names YES, It Would Be a Better Stretch of W's... REED
Nice inside scoop. Hope you don't get blocked for sharing it. I think there's a good chance this gets made as both are very ambitious but i won't believe it until Greg Leon tells us it's 99% done.
actually no. i am definitely a fan of lopez but i saw someone else retweet it. i dont really like following boxers or athletes in general. mostly news and media guys are more interesting/informative.
