This type of reasoning is useless. Take away George Foreman's punch and he has nothing. Yes he could cut the ring, yes he had a good chin - neither of those would mean anything if Foreman didn't have his power. Does it mean he was a poor fighter? Of course not

Lol you just named two additional attributes in addition to his power, one of those attributes Foreman is one of the greatest to ever do it

You’re comparing that with a guy with zero additional attributes and telling X to stop being ridiculous

Boxing has always been about the combination of physical talent and skill. Always. Skill has never been the only deciding factor.

Tyson Fury has an astonishing amount of physical talent: size (yes, SIZE is a talent) some speed, rhythm and strength, and he also has some skill to go with it, but nobody has ever called him the most technical fighter in the world.

Larry Holmes had way more skill, but way less talent. Thus their fight would be very even. It is not unjust, it is the law of sports.

If Foreman was an average puncher but just as tough and that awesome at cutting off the ring, he’d still be a high quality heavyweight

Larry Holmes way less talented ... you mean way less tall and fat

    But alas, still tall enough

Yes, but those two attributes wouldn't make Foreman a legend, nor even a contender, without the third. He only got that far with his punch. Nobody has ever said Wilder would go as far as him. Also Wilder does have reach (a talent) more than most, and carries his power very well

'Wilder isn't good, he just knocks people out' is a terrible argument

Yeayeah, Fury wins unjustly because he uses his reach, I get that

Those two attributes plus average power makes Foreman a quality contender without question

This is George Foreman we’re talking about, you seem to be confusing him with Earnie Shavers

    He knocks out shitty fighters

So did Cleveland Williams... of course, even he could move his head a little

Luckily this search engine specialist was around to assist Tyson Fury in winning a world championship. If he can do that for Tyson Fury, imagine what he could do for your web site!

The difference in speed and skills would be comical ... 5 inches and 50 pounds of stomach flab aren’t overcoming it ...

There's this twitter account called "the state of linkedin" that posts these types of humblebrag or purely made up bullshit stories. I look at it periodically and today i came across this gem. Didn't think i'd see something to share in a boxing forum. lol

Foreman was a much better technician than Wilder, though.

Right... there’s no comparison at all... as I said, if Foreman had average heavyweight power but the same skill set and toughness, he’s clearly still a top contender ... the guy is one of the best ever at cutting off the ring and was excellent at parrying

I'm not saying Fury would beat Holmes but he could definitely do as well as Carl Williams or Trevor Berbick. Zzzmmoooth boxing doesn't overcome all size differences

You did though ... you said Foreman without his power is the same as Wilder without his

    but that’s totally wrong

Carl Williams was a smooth boxer, though and had a fantastic jab

    Berbick was awkward as fuck

No, I said it is unfair and useless to try to rate Foreman without his power, just like it means nothing how Wilder would do without his power.

I specifically said Wilder doesn't go as far in his career as Foreman

    Fury

I don’t have much against Fury ... I’m glad he does some things that everybody used to do and embarrasses the ripped futuristic heavyweight robots guys like Ugo insist are actually good fighters

but I’m not going to confuse his subtle exposing of these skilless, weight trained frauds with being a great boxer ... he’s not at all, but he looks it a little bit compared to his garbage contemporaries

Calzaghe on the other hand fought in a terrible style against almost exclusively terrible opponents and should have about 11 KO victories

Right... I don’t think Fury’s height and fatness are enough to make him a genuinely formidable foe to a fighter the class of Holmes ... Carl Williams was faster and more skilled than Tyson Fury
