I found out last night that an old pal died. I hadnt seen him since last hogmany 14 months ago when he'd visited mine for a party; frankly he'd been in a bad way and created an even worse smell. Eight years prior he'd had a schizophrenic break which he'd never really come back from. He'd tried to kill his dad and himself on the grounds that the rasta devil had come to rape them both and was commited to the pysch ward at gartnavel for a year. The further descent from there was chaptered by his drug problems progressing from the normal stuff to a deeper and deeper smack addiction. Gradually we all stopped trying to get him out, working concentrically from his casual weekend pals like me until even his best mate more or less withdrew.

In his later days Heavy Al (as we'd always called him because, ebulient & good natured as he was, everything was 'heavy good' or 'heavy minging' or 'heavy chonking') became really obsessed with fitbaw, like in a weird beautiful mind way, scrawling results into folders, plastering fixtures on his yellow stained woodchip walls, making phone calls at 2am to check results. Sometimes when he'd come out all he wanted to talk about was the scotland national team, which was weird because he hadn't been a very big fan prior but i guess he thought it was something normal to chat about rather than heroin or the voices in his head or the subsequent death of his da who had a heart attack hill climbing. And it's all like fitbaw really - some players have more skill & nous aye but the exact end result's always just as much about luck, a ball bounces here or there, you get that early goal or you don't. For Al it was more like a fucking meteor swooped down and wiped out his entire back four fifteen minuted into play. The game was well lost & this was just the final whistle - heavy shite.

Sevilla, Man utd, inter and arsenal all have a strong shot.

 

I'm leaning toward Inter but it seems to be pretty wide open.

 

Just checked the odds- inter are faves & those 4 are indeed top 4 faves. Ajax away out at 50-1...i know they're off the boil but that seems long. You can still back Braga at 60-1 with unibet if you fancy haha
