Probably hasn't aged well, but I was a fan of the first "Candyman". Can't really get a bead on this one. From the first part of the trailer, it looked like they were turning it into a typical teen slasher pic, but that may have been a misdirection.
I re-watched the original maybe 2-3 months ago. No, it hasn't aged great. I thought it would have aged better, and I was kinda disappointed. Although, it's still above average. But it's not a great horror film. Black people SWEAR by it, and if you took a poll of black ppl on what the greatest horror film ever is, I bet most of us would answer Candyman. .... I'm not in that group. Candyman is a "good" slasher flick, nothing more. Then again, to me MOST slasher flicks don't age well. The only slasher film that hasn't aged is ironically the oldest (and still) the best... Psycho.
Candyman is only good because of the Music by Philip Glass. Without it, it would not be as memorable.
Watched original Candyman at the cinema but don't recall being impressed. Can't even remember much about it...black dude, bees?
lmao. pretty much. Like i said, the score was the best thing about it. Made it seem more important than it really was.
The bar for supernatural slasher films isn't that high. Most are really, really, bad. Candyman is above average for the subgenre.
I liked the original Candyman a lot, but yeah I haven't seen it since the 90's so maybe it's aged horribly.
