I can see a lot the owners losing their shirt & have to sell up.... maybe some temporary closures while new owners are found. But most my fave pubs have been on site a century or more, covid isnt gonna harvest enough pissheads to make their business model unviable (please christ)

The Fullers brewery is in Chiswick so most of the pubs around here are Fullers. I know they've been very good in that they've cancelled the rent for most of the pubs so I'm expecting them to stay open. One of the newer pubs had to close but that wasn't a Fullers and it was kinda doomed from the start in terms of location even before this shit storm happened.

Just down the river over from Hammersmith Bridge is a place called "The Bridge" pub. It's probably under a mile from the Fullers brewery as the crow flies.

It was open until very recently and now it's all plyboarded up.

I can't make out if its all locked up to keep out looters/squatters or if it's gone to the wall totally.

Can't recall if I've ever been there actually, I have definitely seen it but I can't remember if I've had a drink there. Either way it would be sad if it closed, Hammersmith Bridge has some nice drinking spots.

Most pubs here have plyboarded their windows...judging by the print on the boards, most of them were done by the same geezer who must've made enough in 48 hours to pay for xmas. Hopefully just to keep them safe in lieu of shutters

My dream would be to be "accidentally" locked into a pub for the lockdown. Although with no sports on TV it would be less appealing.

Put everything on hold until Mar 10, 2021. Put a strict limit on transfers for all clubs. Then continue the PL season, the CL, EL & FA Cup. The season will be known as the 2019-21 season.

It seems that NUFC are actually, really, genuinely about to be sold to Saudi Arabia. The Government of, or at least, whatever the fuck the 'sports investment' arm of that fucking place calls itself. Documents lodged with Companies House and the PL. Its been the headline sports story on the BBC and Sky Shite today. The reporting is that these cunts make the Man Shitty boys look like paupers. I've read credible accounts today that the total wealth of those involved is over $300billion...

Presuming this isn't another fat mike bullshit trail (and I'll believe the whole thing when I see it), I'm not sure at all what to make of this. It would mean that NUFC become pretty much instantly minted (good), that the FCB is gone (double-plus good), that the chance to actually compete again might arise (good) and that I might actually start to believe there is a chance NUFC could win something in my lifetime again (good). Been near 20 years since I thought that. However, it can only be presumed that this is part of the Saudi 'Sportwashing' programme (bad) and it is hard to imagine that these cunts could even point at Newcastle on a map, let alone have any connection to it (bad). It is also v. unlikely that any of those involved think much of basic things like 'human rights' or 'equality' (meh).

Of course, there remains an excellent chance that it all turns into a total load of shite.

Happy for you in a way and understand your reservations too.

A quick look at Frasers Group Plc share price says there is something in it.....share shot up briefly today, was up £11 at one point.

    Money Mayweather got outbid?

Hopefully the journalists in the UK know what happens if they badmouth any part of the Saudi government. You get invited to a meeting overseas and you'll only need a one way ticket.

It wouldn't be the same club any more in all honesty. Not gonna be a hypocrite and let Newcastle off because I like them more than other clubs which were taken over by oil merchants. Fuck the Saudis and fuck financial doping in football.
