Is COVID the end of some fighters' primes?

Given that there's no timetable for the return of boxing, and considering major adjustments will have to made in terms of actual crowds, boxing could be down for awhile.

Will some fighters never be the same post-Covid?

It's possible, but I actually think boxers survive better than other athletes. Even if the lockdown lasted for a year, that would still mean two or at most three missed fights for anyone. It can be a big deal for the elderly such as GGG, but otherwise it could be rather meaningless. A basketball or football player could lose his career-best season.

Another thing is, I don't think Corona will prevent boxing for much longer. You can have a full boxing night with like 20 people and with very few close contacts with people. In almost all other sports the risks are much higher, plus having a single basketball game makes little sense anyway.

Mark my words, boxing will return in May

Theres zero chance whatsoever of boxing returning in May considering theres absolutely nothing on the schedule right now and no safe place to put it. Figuring out the logistics in less than a month is impossible. Where in the fuck are they gonna put it? Certainly not in the US or the UK, which are the two main nations that host boxing.

Best case we're looking at September. Boxing is done for the summer. That's a given.

I disagree. Obviously it won't be the major names, but some promoter Dickhead will grab some pretenders in the need of career boost to fight somewhere without audience

And therein lies the problem. If there's no audience, that means a network/streaming service will have to pick it up (or else... kinda nobody will see it). DAZN, ESPN, Sky, ect isn't gonna air two fuckin nobodies fighting eachother with no crowd in the middle of God knows where. It would have to be well known fighters, and EVEN then no major streaming entity or network will choose to air a fight by next month. The risk and backlash are too great.

0% chance of boxing returning next month.

This blows cause without COVID I'd be heading to Loma vs Lopez at the Garden next month.

Now boxing is probably done in NYC til like 2022.

It'll probably return to Vegas before then, but boxing is done in NY for awhile.

    Valid Question...

It'll IMPACT Careers for Certain...Some Guys Could Let Their Bodies Go to Shit, Others Could Become Ever Fuuuurther Removed from their Primes...Someone Noted GGG, Who's a Prime Example of This Possibility...Ditto for Kovalev…Chocolatito...Rigondeaux…

REED Feels for LeBron, as This was Probably His Last LEGIT Crack at an NBA Championship...

Getting Back to Boxing, Fighters STRUGGLING to Make Weight May Be Forced to Neglect Previous Plans...Teofimo Lopez and Errol Spence in Particular...If This Shit Drags Out for Another 6 Months or a Year, COULD They STILL Make '35 and '47 Respectively???...

And Even If They Made Weight, Could They PERFORM as They Would've Early-Mid 2020???...Considerably More UNKNOWNS Than Certainties @ This Point...

Boxing can return with lesser crowds with seats separated six feet apart and checking temperatures at the door entrance. Sure it will make less money for the physical venue, but it won't affect PPV sales. More people will buy PPVs since at home boxing parties will be discouraged (of course many idiots will still do it, but that's still happening now).
