He literally became unmanageable once he stopped drinking and his family begged him to start again.

He wrote a play called "The Field" which is based on a real life dispute between two neighbours, one of whom strangled the other and dumped his body in a narrow watery ravine over a land dispute which literally involved a few square metres of the most worthless land in Europe.

It was a fence that was one or two feet in more than it should have been.

The little guy who was killed was warned that his life was in danger and on the night in question he was making his way back from a card game at a neighbours and declared that he would be alright as he had his "Shtick" with him. I think Jewish people listening to the story might think that he tried to smart-talk his way out of it but in fact he was carrying a large stick and felt he could protect himself.

He was strangled and dumped into a small flooded patch of land where his dogs found him a few days later. The other guy was never convicted but was ostracized soon after and died suddenly on his own in a field not long after., probably had a heart attack from eating 9lbs of bacon every day.

Needless to say Hollywood got its hands on the script and had Sean "Eee up Lad" Bean fighting Tom "The Motherfuckers" Berenger in a stream {You always wanted to know who would win in a fight between Sharpe and Sergeant Barnes well now you know.....Vietnam > Peninsular Wars} and Sean banging a tinker girl in a caravan and John Hurt driving around with a fucking sheep on his bicycle and Priests taking Yankee money etc etc.

Richard Harris was in it, he looked like Moses.

Entertaining movie but total Hollywood guff.
