UFC 249: Ferguson vs Gaethje IS ON

Gaethje is a bit of a gatekeeper, not too interested in it

 

Gaethje shocked me with how easily he disposed of Barbosa, a perennial gatekeeper himself. Much like Barbosa I don’t give Gathje much of a chance against the top guys but seeing as how I never pay and therefore never miss a card, I’ll be checking this one out.

 

He has big power though, I feel he could catch Ferguson early. He also has a strong wrestling pedigree though he doesn't use it much in mma. Tony Ferg has struggled a bit with strong wrestlers before.

 

I don’t believe in Gatjhe’s power. I think he caught a couple guys with perfect shots for those couple one punch KO’s he landed but I’ve also seen him unload the kitchen sink on other guys who took his power with no problem. I won’t be shocked if he beats Ferguson but depending on how it happens I would think a lot less of Ferguson afterwards. IMO this is closer to a stay busy nice payday fight than an actual threat to his winning percentage type of match for Ferguson.

It’s not that Gatjhe’s a bad fighter it’s just that he fights dumb and puts more stock in entertaining the crowd than employing an effective game plan.

 

Great fight. LOVE Gaethje. Like Tony. Don't wanna see either lose. I feel like Justin will beat the shit out of Tony on the feet and use his wrestling to keep it standing. Justin by ko in 3 in a ridiculous war. Justin also kills Khabib by the way. EASILY.

 

I think JoM and lbs. are overlooking Gaethje a bit, but you're severely overeating him . I do think he matches up better against Khabib than TFerg though. I expect Gaethje to wilt in the latter rounds as he blows his wad early and Tony takes over.

 

Tony is wide open to be clipped. I definitely think Tony has a lot better shot versus Justin than Khabib. Khabib would have nothing for J.G. Khabibs overrated wrestling is not taking J.G down and in the stand up fight Khabib gets slaughtered. JG ko 1 or max 2 Khabib.
