Another underrated war from the 80s. Randolph, gold medal winner in the 76 Olympics, took on Ricardo Cardona - who stylewise was like a poor man's Antonio Cervantes. Randolph overall had a disappointing pro career, but he put it all together in winning this war. Was a short lived reign though, as he got destroyed by quality Argentinian brawler Sergio Palma in his first defense.
Great fight rest in peace Cardona. Leo didd not have his heart in boxing he was obsessed with being a truck driver.
Cardona was a good fighter. Sliced Soo Hwan Hong to ribbons to win the title. His style was almost identical to Cervantes, although obviously not a fraction as good as Kid Pambele.
This was a big upset... gold or not, Randolph wasn’t expected to be much of a pro and had fought mostly cans without looking like much ... he lost the title right away and retired Good fight though
Leo's heart was not into pro boxing he lost his first or early fight to David Capo who may not have won another fight.
