Both are good but KC & The Sunshine band were more versatile.

Miami Sound Machine were more of a niche - Latin American pop.

 

I prefer Miami Sound Machine in the 70s/80s before Gloria Estefan became the focal point and they started having big hits

 

I totally agree with Musturd. Today Gloria Estefan & Miami Sound Machine are celebrated (mainly because of the success of a wahman) while KC & the Sunshine Band get the 'has been' treatment.

 

Back in the late 80s, Gloria Estefan & The Miami Sound Machine were pretty consistent with that Latin-Pop that was easy on the ears...but even then, you felt it was 'of it's time'.

KC & The Sunshine Band had some really great songs throughout the 70s.
(I heard Van Halen picked them as support band for their reunion tour!)
