This has been done often but what the heck. I recently rewatched De La Hoya vs Camacho. About as thorough an asswhipping as you can see. Somehow however the Thai judge, however you spelled his name, gave two rounds to Camacho, scoring it 118-108. That might be the worst ever along with 115-113 score for Holyfield in the Lennox fight
The worst scorecards that will live in infamy forever are the two 115-115 in the Whitaker schooling of JC Chavez. Still the worst highway robbery in boxing history in my opinion.
Canelo’s subtle reluctance to engage against the onslaught of his much smaller, much older opponent was pure artistry
I re-scored Calzaghe-Reid recently, I had Calzaghe nicking it 114-113, but the actual scorecards themselves were bizarre. I don't have an issue with it being a split decision, it could have gone either way, but one judge scored it 116-111 for Reid and the other two had it 116-111 for Calzaghe. For the life of me I can't see how it was even remotely possible to arrive at those scores for either guy.
In a way it makes sense. If it was 1180-110 Reid, 115-113 Calzaghe and 118-110 Calzaghe then you;d really wonder. At least here you can kind of see that 2 guys were seeing exactly the same thing and whatever it was they saw, the other guy saw exactly the opposite. Which means 2 guys liked JC's flashy bursts one guy said fuck that and went for the guy throwing single heavy rights.
Same thing that happened in the Joe Cal vs Robin Reid fight happened in the Bradley vs Pac fight part 1 Two guys had it 115-113 for Bradley and one guy had it 115-113 for Pac. And nobody outside of that saw it that way. Usually Dwayne Ford is seen leaving the scene of many fucked up scorecards.
I dont think any if these scorecards are outrageous. Fight was filled with rounds that could go either way
https://boxrec.com/media/index.php/Katsushige_Kawashima_vs._Jose_Navarro Judge: William Boodhoo 109-120 Judge: Gelasio Perez Huerta 115-114 Judge: Noppharat Sricharoen 115-113
While it was not a high profile fight, one judge gave pretty much all of the rounds to Courtney Burton against Emmanuel burton/augustus. Guy was such an idiot that he couldnt even conceal his corruption the slightest
Wasn't that where Teddy Atlas jumped into the crowd with the Mike and got into the guys face. Teddy is like........ and these cards seem wrong I thought Augustus fought a great fight AND THIS IS A TRAVESTY AND IT's KILLING ME MENNALLY AND ITS KILLING BOXING...
It was two bad scorecards, Navarro shut both of Kawashima's eyes shut, the guy with the 120-109 score was the appropriate score
Atlas was coming unglued the whole fight because of the referee (who was never allowed to ref again.) He was already fuming at how the ref cheated Augustus and then they read the scorecards and he went into convulsions. Then things got even worse when the Michigan commissioner came over to talk to Atlas and tried to defend the "majority decision." It was actually a split decision and Atlas lost it even more that a boxing commissioner didn't know the difference. It was a fucking circus.
I know.........the one reassuring thing about boxing is that it happens at the highest level as well as the lowest level, a la Holy vs Lewis part 1. I actually think Lewis blew it vs Holyfield but the Eugenia Williams card, based as it was on Holyfield winning THE FIFTH....was beyond any sort of rational explanation. Holyfield at one point was laying against the rope bringing his leg up to protect his body out of sheer animal reflex....and she somehow gives him the round. Apparently this was the ring card girl before the 5th.........we should have known something was about to happen
Just watching it again, when you were coached by Manny Steward, for 3 minutes you fought your opponent. For 1 minute you fought Manny
The judge who had Tyson beating Douglas at the time of the KO has to be the all-time worst. Thankfully, it never came into play.
A judge managed to have Marvin Johnson winning by 24 points.... in a ten rounder. Having Layne-Charles 2-1-7. Seven??? Lopez-Loma 119-109. Pep's card of Fammo vs Harada. The two super wide Spinks-Davis cards. Canelo vs Trout, Lara, Cotto, GGG I and Mayweather
The worst cards to me are the ones where the judge attempts to cover up his corruption for the house fighter toward the end of the fight by scoring rounds against said fighter that he legitimately won so his scorecard ultimately looks closer
That was Referee Jack Dempsey, who was notorious for scoring a lot of rounds even. He scored 10 rounds even in the 3rd McLarnin-Ross fight.
Pintor v Zarate - a very close fight that could have gone either way and ended in a split decision. Let's check the cards: 143-142 143-142 133-145
