Best run of ´great´ movies: Actors

Discussion in 'Movies & Televison: Reviews, Discussions & Debate' started by Rich ´Money´ Mustard, May 24, 2020.

  1. Got to go with Jack Nicholson here:

    * Easy Rider
    * Five Easy Pieces
    * The King Of Marvin Gardens
    * The Last Detail
    * Chinatown
    * One Flew Over The Cuckoo´s Nest

    ...then the drugs/drink took hold. :Dont:

    Marlon Brando is still the GOAT!

    *A Streetcar Named Desire
    *Viva Zapata!
    *Julius Caesar
    *The Wild One
    *On The Waterfront
    *Desireé
    *Mutiny on the Bounty
    *The Godfather
    *Last Tango in Paris
    *Apocalypse Now

    ...then he stopped caring about his performance and only worked for the paycheck while doing a minimum effort.

    Trivia: Brando turned down playing Lawrence of Arabia because he preferred to appear in Mutiny on the Bounty instead due to its pleasanter filming location, Tahiti, and astronomical pay. "I’ll be damned if I'll spend two years of my life on some fucking camel," he said.

  3. That´s not a run, though.
    In the 1960s, his acting output was pretty dire: One-Eyed Jacks, Mutiny On The Bounty, The Ugly American, Morituri, The Appaloosa, and numerous other duds.

    He got a lucky break for The Godfather

    You are being picky as for his run started in the early 50's up until Mutiny on the Bounty (which wasn't any dud). Yeah, he had a 'break' between that film and 'The Godfather' but then had Last Tango and Apocalypse Now immediately after. Three classics in a row is a fucking great run near the end of his career.

  5. No panchy, you've just cherry-picked all of his most notable movies throughout 3 decades.

    There's no other greater fan of Brando than I but...that's not a 'run'

  9. :Scratch:

  10. Is this the role when Brando got paid some ridiculous amount of millions of dollars for 10minutes' worth of acting?

    $3.7 million for 13 days of work. Adjusted for inflation it is like $16 million plus Brando had an 11% cut from the film's profits too. He pulled a similar deal for Apocalypse Now.

  12. True G.O.A.T.-like behaviour :Cowboy:

    imo, his best performance in his later years was ´Last Tango In Paris´ - the scene in front of his wife´s body in the casket is pure acting....
