Yeah, I was confused for a second. Like WTF would be the difference? It's a tough call. One hand, Pascal is nowhere near as good as Ward and Calzaghe. On the other hand, he had the leap amateur athleticism and pop to trouble Kessler. Guess it all depends on how Kessler carried 175. If he could carry it well, then Kessler by decision. I think Kess's jab and straight punching would be enough to get past Pascal.
Agreed for the most part, pascal style should trouble Kessler. I think he hurts him a few times and notch a close one
Depends on Kessler at the weight. Kessler was the better fighter of the two, and in 06 he was very sharp. But it's possible he wouldn't be effective above 168.
Not sure he was better. Would Kessler beat dawson, and humiliate Bute as easily as pascal did? If there's a difference in class between the two its pretty marginal. I think the main difference in that fight would be style and i feel Kessler stiff euro style would play in Pascal hands
Their respective fights against Froch clearly show Kessler was better. Only two guys beat Kessler in his prime, Calzaghe and Ward - two HOFmers. Pascal isn't duplicating what they did, and he isn't even coming close. Pascal is closer to being on the level of Anthony Mundine than Calzaghe/Ward, and Mundine was a leap amateur whom Kessler easily outpointed.
You know better than that. Pascal did better than bhop and Tarver against Dawson, does that mean he was better than them? And when both fought Froch on his hometurf, they both lost as clearly
You know better than that last statement, because there was 3 years in between the first Kessler-Froch fight and the rematch. Kessler was ALREADY somewhat on the downside in the first Froch fight... he was a corpse in the rematch.
That's simply not true KESSLER looked as good as ever in the fight just before the Froch rematch (the blowout of Magee). You really have to stop with this habit of calling a fighter shot or washed up just cause he lose a fight. And let's not pretend that it was a prime Pascal against Froch, he was green as hell. It was his first real opponent and he looked shitty in the few fights before. That was with Froch turned his career around
