Canelo suit aside, DAZN is just a very poorly run operation with a business model that's not tenable. That's partially due to John Skipper, who IMO is a clueless motherfucker. Only a matter of time before Len Blavatnik (DAZN owner) cans him just like Disney canned him from ESPN.

Canelo wants to face the much avoided TBA in an empty arena with three judges scoring from Mexico City and he wants $20 million and half of PPV buys for this.

ESPN+ isn't perfect, but at least when you watch ESPN you feel like you're watching boxing.

DAZN is waayyy too WWE for my liking. Once they started featuring fights between NON-boxers, that was it for me.

Fuck em! I'm glad they're failing.

 

Maybe he was counting on earning the same money maintaining the pace he was on as if he had a guaranteed salary. Probably been spending a lot and seeing the his finances dwindle. Without a huge payday around the corner he's in panic mode. Perhaps there's more to it, but it sounds ridiculous.

 

Is DAZN really gonna fail?
Sure they, and their long haired freak of a ring announcer, suck at boxing. But they lined up a few descent fights and all the other sports combined make it an entertaining service. Hopefully they dont go away already.

However this suit does kinda point that way; Canelo trying to get a last few $Ms before the whole shitpile goes into receivership.

Not to be outdone, Carl Frampton is now suing Barry McGuigan for £6M after McGuigan told him to under-declare his American purses {for tax purposes naturally- this is illegal, btw} and then McGuigan didn't pay Frampton the money as.....well, Frampton hadn't earned it, and if he had, why didn't he declare it?

I dont get that... why would Frampton be expected to declare money he never got paid for tax purposes? Must be more to it than that...

 

The purse would be, for example, £1m.

McGuigan would tell Frampton to "Declare £500,000"..........this way the tax burden is lower.

Then McGuigan would officially pay Frampton the £500k.

Then Frampton would ask for the rest and McGuigan would tell him to do one..........and how can Frampton pursue the difference? He's already said it wasn't money he was due, in his tax return.

At least that's Framptons version of events.

McGuigan and his dickhead son are a pair of bums, you can make a note of that now. Shane McGuigan is a snot-nosed punk.
