Lewis Ritson beat Vasquez by a questionable SD. The most outrageous scorecard was when Terry O'Connor had it 117-111 for Ritson. A photo shows him staring his phone during the fight

I saw the fight on YT. Terrible robbery.

Rittson would get destroyed by all the top guys at 140.

 

It doesn't matter even if he scored the fight accurately and he only looked at his phone in between rounds. It shouldn't be on.

 

Apparently the guy looked at his phone several times, also during the rounds . Don't know if his phone was on though

 

I dont see why he would look at it if it was off.

 

Was this the fight this weekend on DAZN? What an awful card.

 

Rittson had previously said he wanted Prograis, then admitted after the fight he wasnt ready for Prograis yet.

Dude has zero ability - he'll never be ready for Prograis.

Boxing is dangerous, you can die, get your fucking head kicked in, suffer life changing injuries.

These guys deserve better than to be laying their asses on the line and have the supposed moderator doing something else.

Their actions have consquences. Guy loses a fight and he goes on to have 3,4 more fights to make up lost ground, gets hurt, loses $$$, etc.

Unacceptable, and I hope some severe sanction comes down on this guy. A ban, for openers.

Judge Terry O'Connor will appear before the British Boxing Board of Control after criticism he used his phone while scoring Lewis Ritson's highly controversial win.

The Newcastle fighter received a split decision win over Miguel Vazquez, with O'Connor scoring the fight widely in Ritson's favour, but a picture later emerged on social media of the experienced official apparently looking at his phone during the super-lightweight fight on Saturday in Peterborough.


The BBBofC has since released a statement which read: "Mr. O'Connor will appear before the Stewards of the British Boxing Board of Control following his appointment to the boxing tournament at the East of England Showground Arena on Saturday, 17th October 2020."

 

I had never heard of Rittson before this weekend, but Vasquez has been washed up for awhile now, and it's been a few years since Taylor destroyed him with a body shot. Here's the full fight:

Honestly I didn't even know this Ritson was fighting. He's a staple of those horrible "free" cards we've had down the years on British subscription TV. He's a local yokel.

I knew something was up as soon as Eddie Hearn was chatting shit. Hearn wasn't trying to be "fair", he was just trying to either virtue signal or put distance between himself and the fallout.

Know this fella, know the gym and saw the fight.

He's a domestic level guy who got promoted because no-one in this area makes money. All the quality fighters up here stay as ammys and he's an exception, so Fast Eddie saw money to be made. In his last fight but one, he got brayed, so Eddie wanted out. This was his out.

Now, let's be clear. Lewis is a limited guy. Everyone around him knows that. Eddie gave him the big licks when he was selling out arenas in Newcastle until he got his shit punched in last fight but one. He got exposed. That's okay. It happens.

But what Eddie did here was disgusting. This was his fighter, and he set him up for a hiding. He got one, in a close but decisive loss that should have been the end of him.

But Eddie had to do more. He had to go public when his paid for stooge did his job. He hung his own fighter out to dry. Now Lewis, a decent lad who trusted his promoter to, well, promote him, has been ruined after he got brayed because his own guy is on social media telling everyone he got fucking chinned.

The way I saw it was that Hearn paid O'Connor and then shopped him because Ritson failed to "lose" or get KO'd

But that wouldn't make sense either because why would Hearn have brought O'Connor in if Ritson was due to get sparked anywyas?

For me Hearn basically paid O'Connor and then shopped him when the acrimony got too loud.

 

I never fail to be surprised at the sheer level of cuntery with these people. They got all the money in the World and they have to do something like that.

Of course, after the Joshua vs Ruiz debacle he was out doing TV chats when AJ was back in the dressing room in bits.

My understanding was that Hearn basically walked away after the Patera fight. He was told they had a contract and to honour it. So he did, with this, horribly overmatched fight.

I can't prove this was a set up. But I'm pretty sure the whole thing was.

So Hearn sent him out to die once he realized he couldn't hack it.

Now that he's not died, he wants Terry O'Connor investigated even though Terry did what any right thinking man would do and scored it for the home town fighter in the hope he got more work in the future.

Now that he's done that, he's in trouble too, and our boy Eddie is the fucking Angel in all of this.

Watching the Ritson fight I couldn't help but crack up when the commentators said "Ritson isn't ready for Taylor or Prograis, maybe he should fight Postol."

Postol??? Ritson just got his ass handed to him a washed up Vasquez, and Postol just arguably beat Ramirez.

Postol would thrash Ritson with one hand tied behind his back.
