Davis vs Santa Cruz: Thoughts

I'll be damned! I didn't know until today that Davis vs Santa Cruz was taking place at 130 for the WBA belt.

I thought Davis was staying at 135 and SC was moving up to lightweight, that's why I was so turned off by it.

This makes the matchup more intriguing and I'm less critical of it now. It's good that Davis is dropping back to 130, he doesn't really have the frame of a lightweight and he's at a big size disadvantage if he fought Fimo or Haney at 135.

I'm thinking Davis stops SC inside of 8. Leo will be brave and put up a good fight, but he's too far outgunned in speed and power.

davis definitely is helped by the early weigh in. he looked cracked out to me. nonetheless he should be too strong for santa cruz.

 

I'm saying Davis in 8, but really a Davis stoppage in any round wouldnt surprise me. I could definitely see Davis inside 3-4.

Why? Because SC has never faced a true puncher in his whole career. Which goes back to him always been protected.

Usyk and Chisorah weighed in today at about 1pm local time.

Yes, it was HW but the UC guys all weighed in at the same time , too.

Chisorah is about 40lbs heavier btw. Should be fun......I got the white guy.
