What are some notable fights in which the winner seemed beaten only to come back and win, whether by knockout or decision?

With knockouts, ones that comes to mind are Benn/McClellan and Weaver/Tate.

For ones without knockouts, Trinidad/ODH and Mosley/ODH II?

    Others?

But on a serious note, even though it was an incredibly boring fight, Randall Bailey vs Mike Jones comes to mind.

Bailey had lost literally every round, then boom.

Out of new examples, Povetkin came back from two knockdowns to blast out Whyte, and Lucas Browne iced Chagaev with a single shot after a pretty thorough drubbing

    Corrales-Castillo is an obvious one.

Also, even though it was early goings, Hosumi Hasegawa seemed to be walking to a victory against Montiel, until he walked into a trap.

Before the fight Hasegawa was top-10 p4per, now a decade later he is forgotten

Pacquiao was ahead and probably having his best round before being face planted against Marquez.

A turnaround is where you don't lose, right?

Frans Botha fighting back to take a 10-8 final round vs Briggs with no knockdown having been decked and behind on the cards was stirring stuff. Fight ended in a draw. Briggs ear was hanging off as Botha landed right after right.

Purritty vs Wlad and Izon vs Jefferson....where both guys were leading massively and kept fighting like they needed a KO.

Savarese vs Mount Whittaker........Savarese was a half a second away from being stopped at one point, Smoger have him a 9.5 second count. He was at 9 and then he said "Come on" and Savarese was up. Savarese gutted it out and won narrowly on the cards.

Golota vs any number of guys, Ruiz and Grant in particular, the Ruiz fight went the distance.

Another one......Lyakhovich vs Brewster. I don't think Lyahovich even scored a knockdown as part of the comeback but he was definitely in a hole after 7 rounds.

Been wondering what ever happen with that guy. I remember when he was p4p and then he just disappeared. I don't think I realized he'd lost to Montiel.

Corrales is 13 years dead. Time flies.

I remember when he was fighting that renowned midget John Brown up in Nebraska. The story of that fight was that he had piled on weight between weigh in and fight night, something like 17lbs.

Brown was another member of that talented bunch of journeymen from around that period. Him and Augustus, Courtney Burton, Ray Oliveira and others who almost certainly would get a lot closer to titles today than they did 20 years ago.

Corrales was 30 when he died......so he'd be 43 today, probably working for TV in some regard presuming he was out of jail.

I was there, I never doubted Corrales would eventually knock Freitas out, and it seems he agreed with me. The difference in power was noticeable despite the difference in volume.

Archie Moore-Yvon Durelle 1: Maybe the greatest comeback ever, and definitely one of the greatest fights ever.

    Diego Corrales-Jose Luis Castillo 1

    Kennedy McKinney-Welcome Ncita 1

Earnie Shavers-Roy Williams: A huge comeback within the round, as were Corrales-Castillo 1 and McKinney-Ncita 1.

Micky Ward-Alfonso Sanchez: Ward had been dropped and was being badly outboxed. He looked mentally out of it and disinterested and then landed his money punch.

Derrick Jefferson-David Izon: Even Larry Merchant wanted the fight to be stopped. Izon then punched himself out.

Lamon Brewster- Wladimir Klitschko 1: Sort of like the Jefferson-Izon fight.

There was also a point in the Troy Dorsey fight where it looked like Dorsey’s crazy workrate was just going to overwhelm him and Kelley would get stopped. Kelley fought out of it and won the decision.

McKinney-Ncita is a great shout. Ncita had McKinney all but out, then McKinney levels him with one right cross.

think the best comeback ever for me will always be Brewster against Wlad. Only won this fight because of his balls and ridiculous determination. He had nothing for Wlad

Yup. I was going to say Ward-Sanchez from around '96.
