I don't mean the fifteen in a dozen bouts where some totally obscure cans face each other.

But are there some fights where a great or semi-great fighter has had a bout, in his prime, that rarely gets mentioned anywhere? List such instances.

I thought of this when Youtube suggested Holyfield-Holmes to me. It was a title defense for unbeaten Holyfield, against the #5 ranked heavyweight according to The Ring. The bout was a terrible bore, but it rarely gets mentioned among Holyfield's worst nor best performances ever, it is just forgotten.

In this bout Holyfield was cut and after the bout he told the media he was panicking cause he was afraid of bleeding (or something of those lines) but that is never remembered either and it doesn't fit Holyffield's later image either

Most notable thing about that fight was when Holmes projectile vomited in the ring immediately after round 12

Not so sure about this one. I think H-H is fairly talked about. Esecially when it comes to a MM between Holyfield and Tyson at this time

In Bernard Hopkins' case, for some reason I always forget he fought Carl Daniels. Otherwise I recall all his bouts from the middleweight tournament to Pavlik

    Good one.

Muhammad Ali fought plenty of trash late in his reign, but closer to his prime before the Foreman bout he fought Foster-Bugner-Norton-Norton-Lubbers-Frazier-Foreman
No way I would have remembered Lubbers without aid

I thoight pbf vs. Sosa was decent. Pbf had some boring fights though. Like his fight with Goyo Vargas. And Canelo.

I went to Mayweather Jr vs Sosa in fresno. Was pretty boring. Mayweather jrs right hand was injured in camp so he was mostly jabbing

Mike Tyson-Bonecrusher Smith isn’t talked about much, probably because it was known as a boring fight.

In fact, it’s the only filmed fight of Tyson that I haven’t seen, and I have little interest in seeing it either. I just saw the clip of Smith landing a good punch in the last round.

Ali had a number of forgettable fights in between Frazier I and Foreman - i.e.: Al Lewis, Mac Foster, Jurgen Blin. Many of them were also held in far flung locations rather than more typical (and high profile) boxing venues like MSG.

Floyd dominating Canelo was a good fight. Now Floyd vs Mosley...that was boring after 3/4 rounds.
