I learned only today that you can actually bet for this fight. Tyson is the favorite at -200.

Do you believe they will actually compete for the victory in any way and if so, who you got?

My two all time favorite fighters, and I couldn't care less.

I highly they'll be a stoppage either way. These are two geriatrics.

Not even thinking about it much, TBH.

I'm just counting the days until Spence-Garcia.

99 times out of 100 these exhibitions are only light sparring sessions unless somebody didn't get the memo or goes off script.

It's about making some money and not getting hurt.

I don't believe there's anything different about this. If it were a real match either Tyson KO's a fragile Roy early or Jones avoids the few haymakers and Mike tires. Jones then pot-shots a bit and Tyson follows him around.

Probably my two favorites as well. It would have been nice if this happened after the Ruiz fight. A win for either would have given one of them at least one more signature win, but a loss wouldn't have been considered too damaging legacy wise. I'm sure the money would have been not so bad as well.

REED Has LOW Expectations, But There's NOfuckingWAY He's Missing This...Will Probably Firestick It vs. Ordering the PPV, But REED'll Definitely WATCH...

The Homey BIGDAWG Will Be in Town Also, Sooooo it's a No-Brainer...

As for the "Fight" Itself, if They Go FOR REAL, Mike Destroys Roy in the 1st...Roy's HANDS are Still Fast But His FOOTWORK Looks Old and Stiff AF...Roy Would Have to Virtually RUN for the 1st Couple Rounds to Have a REAL Chance, But Will His LEGS Cooperate???...

Honestly, This Reminds REED of the WWE Match btwn Floyd and Big Show, Where the Intrigue was in the SCRIPTING...HOW Will They Pull This Off???...

Mike Isn't a "Script" Fighter and Even if he's Trying to Play Along, PULLING Punches, he's Still Carrying FIGHT ENDING POWER...Literally, Mike Could ACCIDENTLY KO Roy...

Are they charging money for this? You'd have to be insane to pay money for this.

Still rebember that interview with a neurologist who worked with Roy who said that RJ can barely keep his balance anymore. If it's a real fight, Tyson ko him fast. But it will be a sparring session

Larry Holmes fought Bonecrusher Smith and Mike Weaver in his 50s in fights for the "Legends heavyweight title".

Those bouts were actually scheduled for 12 three-minute rounds and they did fight for real, but the audience didn't like it too much.

A short exhibition is easier to make look good, especially since it isn't going to be quite true

That was ‘the entertainment fight’ at heavyweight at that time... many thought it would be Roy’s next match. Supposedly he didn’t want the fight thinking he’d get wrecked. So instead he starved himself to get back to Lt Heavy so he could go life & death w/crackhead Tarver then get brutally KO’d in the rematch... so in retrospect (hell even at the time many thought..) it was a fucking HORRIBLE decision for Roy in terms of $$$, legacy, health, future.. everything. Boxing fans lost out on what could’ve been a wildly intriguing run at HW by Roy (he looked scintillating vs Ruiz). Instead we just got to witness a depleted, weight-drained, suddenly old Roy get battered around the ring by a series of B to C- level fighters. Still pisses me off to this day thinking about how badly fucked Roy and the boxing world in general were from that retarded decision to drop ~30 lbs of shredded muscle in the twilight of his career... Jesus how the fuck do you make that decision ?!?!?

This is what I have been pondering.

If there are actually shitloads of ignorant fans out there who believe Tyson stil is at his best, will they be pissed when he isn't? Will they dtop following boxing altogether, or realize that a three-second Instagram clip and a hot body is not the same as reality?

Or are we beyond that point? Is the mental image of Tyson so strong that they will see what they want, never mind what happens in the ring? If he looks slow and cumbersome it's "he was just holding back, he was rusty etc". Does the reality matter anymore, even if it shits on their chest?

If this becomes popular and Tydon looks good one way or another (like if Jones takes an obvious dive), we'll see more and more of these freak shows. The planned bout between Foreman and Seagal will happen

No. They won't stop following boxing just because Mike looks like the 50+ man that he is. The only ones who will are the ones who don't watch boxing in the first place. They're the only ones who think it's still 88 Tyson.

I would say that most casuals understand what this is, and the outcome will have zero bearing on how they feel about the sport. And when I say casuals, I mean the fans who'll watch big fights on ESPN like Lopez-Loma, but don't follow/understand the sport like we do. Those fans possess enough of an understanding to know that two 50+ past greats are too fucking old to perform at the level they once did, and they understand the difference between an exhibition and a real fight.

There are a percentage who DON'T understand the difference between an exhibition/real fight, and who think Tyson can defy the laws of age/nature, but those are generally low IQ people who don't matter anyway.

If someone is so ignorant as to believe in 2020 that Tyson could be a world champion no amount of evidence to the contrary will change their mind. They're living in a fantasy world.

Like I said, those people are low IQ, independent of boxing.

You don't have to follow boxing to know that athletes in their 50s can no longer compete on a world level.

I don't follow MLB anymore, but I have enough brains to understand that Ken Griffey Jr. could still look amazing in the batting cage, but that doesn't that he can still hit a big league fastball from an above average pitcher.

A Tyson trained Rooney could flip all the states Trump lost back to Red before the end of the 4th round.

I think Tyson stops him in 2-3
Sad thing is, even though Roy has been boxing WAY more recently.. he looked bad and looks super chinny now. It really is ridiculous to pick someone that has not had a fight in like 15 years but....

No, You Were RIGHT the 1st Time; Tyson Trained Rooney...Rooney Trained Tyson...

Theirs was an Uncanny, SYMBIOTIC Fighter-Trainer Relationship Never Seen Before or Since, Conversations Consisting of NUMBERS, NODS and CUS'isms Exclusively...

Not Only Did They Train Each Other, They FOUGHT As One Being, Thus Explaining Mike's Punching Power. He Hit w/the Force of Not 1 but 2 Men; Himself and Rooney.

In Fact, Mike Tyson IS Kevin Rooney. Kevin Rooney IS Mike Tyson.
