Fighters do commentary of their own fights. For example Tyson watches all his fights bell to bell and describes what's going on in the fight in his head etc... same with Lewis.. Roy... etc. Etc.. Would be an amazing thing to watch.
It sounds good as a concept, but it would crash and burn, because you'd either have a self cock stroking session if they're viewing a win, or an excuse-a-thon if they're viewing a loss. I would like to see Wilder commentate the Fury rematch though. "That! That right there! You see what he did right there??? That wasn't no jab. That was his summoning his evil Gypsy powers and putting the curse on! You see I wobbled after that, that's when the curse hit me."
Yeah it's the first thing that came to mind as well. "You see here when he hit me and i started falling all over the ring? Well i wasn't hurt in the least. The canvas was slippery". There would also be guys who would be overly respectful depending on the opponent and the story they want to tell. "You see this flicking jab? I was out on on my feet for a few rounds! It was only through my training and belief in god that i was able to turn that fight around." I wouldn't write off the concept entirely but it would only do well with certain fighters, and even then it would have to be heavily edited. It probably would also be best if they did it for multiple fights. If they know in advance they're going to cover a single matchup they will go in with a story prepared.
Even better idea. Both participants do the commentary at the same time. That way they'd be kept in line with all the bullshit.
LOK, I deleted that post. BOSS is actually trying to have a serious boxing discussion - no need for unnecessary trolling. If you wanna shit talk with him, take it to Fracture Ward.
I actually heard that Tyson did that in his book “Undisputed Truth” where he talked about not only his life but about all of his fights and what was going on in them. I heard that book was very good. I like the concept and think it could even be done in other sports like the NBA and NFL.
Harden commenting on a defender standing 9-feet away from him: "Flagrant foul! He put me into a rear naked chokehold as I was pulling up from 3, that's why I dropped like I had been shot."
I think this is a great idea. I'd love to see them watch it and comment. You always here a fighter that loses say "I need to go back and watch the fight" how great would it be to have them watch it and comment? Great stuff brother Boss, you are a great asset to this forum. Bless you
Make Chris Byrd watch all his boring ass fights on a loop for eternity - make him watch the Ike fight 9 times a day.
Azumah Nelson has a five part series where he describes his five best fights. Each one is about 5 minutes. Would definitely enjoy the same thing from other fighters. It all depends on the fighter. Some fighters are adult enough and humble enough to give realistic accounts and assessments of what happened. Some are not.
In Finnish version of baseball they did this during Corona pause and it worked very well. In team sports there are less reasons (and chances) to come up with excuses, thus it doesn't have the problems portrayed here
Nelson's two best performances have gotta be the Gomez fight (even though Gomez was well past it), and the Fenech rematch.
Yeah. His number one was indeed the Gomez fight. He said Gomez's team sent whores to his room the night before (in PR) and that they also turned on the AC in his locker room prior to the fight. But I think his number 2 might have been Sanchez. Then again, not even sure he was ranking them or just listing his best five.
