Khan fight lasted 4 rounds, so it wasnt an issue. But yeah he did the same against porter and thurman. Thats why i saod hes a happy loser
You see why Danny was dominant at 140. Really good counterpuncher. Quick release on his shots. Has this ability to turn southpaw and throw a left kind of like tyson used to.
I wouldn't call him an overachiever. He beat guys he was better than (bar maybe khan), and he lost to a few guys he might have beaten if he had a bit more balls
Dominant at 140? The guy who arguably lost to Herrera??? The guy who dropped rounds to a faded Judah??? Let's not go overboard.
Tonight wasn't about balls. There's a separation in skill/talent between Spence and Garcia - balls wouldn't have saved him.
Probably not but you have to take a risks at times whereas Danny just seems to decide "well, i guess he's better than me so lets just ride it out".
If he had thrown more often and more recklessly, he would have stood a much better chance of winning. He stung Spence the few times he landed. Sure, that might have gotten him koed...
If im Pacquiao, i feel a lot better about facing Spence after tonight. Hes probably too ild now, but if its the same Pacquiao that shown up against thurman, i think he wins it
Danny's What They Call a "Lucky Lick" Fighter... Instead of WORKING For or CREATING Openings to Land Shots, He Has Low Output and Prefers to COUNTER, Hoping for a "Lucky Lick", ala the Khan Fight... This Strategy is FINE if You're Facing a Perpetually AGGRESSIVE Guy, But Against a Foe That Picks and Chooses His Aggressive Spots (Like Spence, Like Thurman), Danny Often Finds Himself Literally Doing Next to NATHAN... The TRUE Mark of a "Philly Fighter" is a Distinct LACK Of Caution...You Had to HOLD BACK Joe Frazier, It's No Secret Meldrick Taylor Engaged In Toooooo Many Punching Exchanges for His OWN Good... Hell, Even Julian "J-Rock" Williams INVESTS More Of Himself in Fights than Danny Garcia Seems Capable Of... REED
Yeah, Pac beat up a guy who had just gone life and death with Whoesito Lopez. Whoop-de-fuckin-do. And we're going on damn near 2 years since that fight.
It was the entire HBO presentation was just perfect.....I also miss the commentary Jim, Larry, Emmanuel/Roy/George/Max it was just GREAT. They added(some say took away) to the fights... "HARD LEFT HOOK by Katsidis and Marquez is on his butt"....today there are a bunch of clowns......."MAMA MIA"....
He was fast as hell and bouncing all over the place against Thurman, who is also pretty fast on his feet. But i think that might have been his swan song
Yep. Even though his game is counter-punching this "it's not who he is" stuff is nonsense. Obviously he can't magically transform into a different fighter but this is world class prize fighting. There are times you have to do things out of your routine when required. Throwing more punches instead of waiting isn't some unreasonable ask even if might not make a difference.
Garcia's power has always been overrated, especially since moving up to 147. He's a good, solid puncher, but his left hook has always gotten hyped like it carries Trinidad/Cuevas type power. I knew that if Spence was normal, that Danny wouldn't even have a puncher's chance... cause he's not a TRUE puncher.
For all the hype around Spence, he's not proving to be able to easily defeat top fighters. At this point, im wondering if he would have even beaten a prime Thurman. And this is coming from someone who was pretty high on him when he was coming up
Nonsense. Guy has a lot of 1 punch ko/fight turners. Probably the most in boxing bar Wilder. He throws a lot of shitty punches, but when he lands with full extension, guys are going down
Y'all are being too harsh on Danny, and I don't even like Danny. He doesn't lack heart at all. He just isn't all that talented, and he doesn't let his hands go a lot because he doesn't have a great gas tank, notJUST because he's a counterpuncher. I don't think it's right to question his heart though. The man has limitations against elite fighters.
Ohh like his super impressive KO of Rod Salka you mean? The KO of a Morales who had both feet in the grave? The KO of a shopworn, punching bag Rios? Hit Judah flush 10,000 times - Zab saw the distance. Hit Guerrero with NUMEROUS flush left hooks... Guerrero was never in serious trouble. Peterson was never in serious trouble. He's an overrated puncher.
Danny threw almost as many punches as Spence did. I get your point. But I don't think you can boil Garcia down to that. He did a lot more than you're giving him credit for.
Nothing overrated about his power. You dont make Erik morales doing spins if you dont punch like a mule. And rios, all shot that he was,.looked like he got killed by that right hand. His problems is that he doesn't throw enough woth bad intentions and is not creative enough offensively
