Lemieux never even hurted Joachim Alcine, who was made of papier mache at that point. At the top level, you usually needs more than just power to hurt and ko guy. Same thing for Garcia. While his power is top level, he doesnt have the skills of a tito. That's why he's not hurting guys as often as tito was, not because hes a softer puncher
I'm not saying he doesn't have power. But no, I'm maintaining it's not as good as its hype. If he was touted as a solid puncher, I'd have no issue. He's touted as some Trinidad, Chapo Rosario type puncher.
HAVING SAID ALL THIS, and moving on from Danny, my current feeling on the matchup we all wanna see is.... I think Crawford has a bit too much for EJ.
I dont think hes far from their level as puncher. But hes a lot less dynamic and skillfull. Thats why he doesn't hurt top level guys
I'm no more confident of a pick one way or the other after tonight. Spence is a little reckless I think. Wl be interesting to see how he approaches a Crawford fight.
It's not about him having no heart or not doing any good work. Maybe he doesn't have the tools or the talent to make a difference. You have to at least try something. The point is he was clearly losing and decided to change nothing. Then in the last five seconds or so he starts pretending he wants to mix it up. Maybe just maybe he could have explored that tactic (or others) before the the bell was about to sound ending the evening.
He tried to land a few monster right hands too....just couldn't reach Spence cleanly with them. I like garcia's body attack. But I agrees with Danny's assessment - Spence's jab more than anything is what got it done.
You're acting like it's easy to go out there against an elite fighter and just throw your best shots. And if you're not able to, you somehow lack heart... It's not that simple at all. Garcia didn't throw/land his hook much because Spence largely neutralized it. Why? Because he's a goddamn higher level fighter than Danny Garcia, and you just don't wanna admit you're wrong with this "paths to a Garcia win" bullshit. I told you that Garcia's only path to win was Spence being ruined. Otherwise, this was always gonna end in a DSG loss. I'm not disappointed in a guy who got outclassed in the exact same fashion I expected him to get outclassed.
I agree with that. He did a similar thing against Thurman and Porter. My point was, it's not accurate to suggest he stood around waiting to land a big shot. He threw almost as many punches as Spence. But yeah. If Garcia wanted it bad enough, he would've sold out more and gone after Spence more. Thing is, some fighters are dead set on not getting knocked out. And getting knocked out can certainly hurt a career more than losing a decision. And some fighters are no doubt doing that calculation.
Yeah, he tried the big right a few times. But the left hook was noticeably absent. As i said before, its a difficult punch to land against a southpaw, but he sure wasnt winning by removing his best weapon from the equation
Nobody say it is easy. But if you dont throw it it sure as hell wont land. And stop it. You've humiliated yourself enough with this "DG has no chance to win" nonsense. The relatively close fight should have made you realise how much of a ridiculous call that was. Admit that i was wrong??? I picked EJ to win a clear but competitive fight, which is pretty much the perfect description of tonight fight
Danny's rich. He's got a wife and daughter to think about. I'm not really mad about him not going all out to win at this point against a clearly superior fighter. I wouldn't characterize it as lacking heart. A loss of fire since he was in his early 20s? Of course, but that's expected.
How did I humiliate myself when I was accurate? Danny didn't have a chance to win, and he didn't come close to winning. I had it 9-3 Spence. If you give Danny EVERY benefit, then 8-4. There was nada close about this fight.
Its ridiculous cause a 8-4 fights is far from being a proof that a fighter has no shot whatsoever of winning. Especially since a few of these rounds were rather close. A few more punches landed by DG and the fight is completely different. If they fight 10 times, DG probably sneak a win or two. There's a world of difference between picking someone to win and saying the other fighter has no chance whatsoever
Spence said he got tired. And I could tell. Garcia could've sold out more without being reckless. Raw aggression from Porter was effective. I think you're overrating Spence, acting like he's in some other universe than Garcia.
Different universe, no. Different level, yes. How am I overrating Spence when I just said that Crawford is looking like the favorite? I have NO CLUE why I have this reputation of overrating Spence, when I've said 1,000 times on here that he's an excellent fighter, but not some generational talent. I'm extremely grounded on Spence.
Yep... Particularly When You're On the Verge of Going 0-3 in Your 3 Biggest Fights...What's the Quote, "Doing the SAME Thing Over and Over, Yet Expecting a DIFFERENT Outcome..." That's Danny... REED
Pac beating Crawford or Spence at the current time is not realistic. Either one would make him look his age.
I just think that proves he lacks creativity and the ability to adjust - which has always been apparent.
To Be CLEAR, REED Isn't Questioning Danny's "Heart"...It Takes COURAGE to Punch When Your Opponent is Punching... But REED's Point Is, Danny ISN'T Worthy of the "Philly Fighter" Mantle...There's a Level of CAUTION, a Level of RESTRAINT In Danny That Escapes Other Noted "Philly Fighters"... Danny's FROM Philly, But He Ain't No "Philly Fighter" In the TRUEST Sense of the Term... REED
Yep... When Faced w/the Choice of a Competitive LOSS or Daring to Be Great in the Name of a WIN, Danny Settles for the L...He's Never Once Said "Fuck It" and WENT For the W, When Plan A was Clearly Not Working... REED
Im not that sold on either of them. As i said, if (and its a big if) the pac that showed up against thurman show up against either of them, he has a great chance. He's so much more dynamic than either of them, even at this old age
Valid Point, But a FATIGUED Spence Also Took His Foot OFF the Gas for 2 1/2 Rounds, Doub???... REED Can't Say He's Ever Seen Spence as INACTIVE as he Was During that Brief Stretch, Yet He STILL Outworked Danny...Look, REED Ain't Calling Danny a BITCH or Anything Close, But He's Always Had a Level of RESTRAINT To Him That's COST Him 3 Fights Now... REED
